I like crime fiction. I like female crime writers (but not exclusively) Who have I missed?

I think I'm about up to date with everyone's books that I know I like.

Need to take a trip to the library next week, who should I be looking for?

I was going to suggest Martina Cole but see Mosschops has beaten me to it

Hi, I'm new to the forum so apologies for "jumping in"... !

I love a good thriller but it's hard finding new authors. I used to work in a library so I would ask readers for mini reviews when they brought books back!! This is how I discovered Katy Gardner (British, similar to Nicci French) John Hart (small town America - lots of twists and turns) and John Lescroart (Grisham).

There is an excellent book called "Who Else Writes Like...?" which you can look at in any library - say you like Nicci French, you look up the name and it lists other authors who write similar stuff, or in a similar style. It's excellent, and who knows, you might just discover another author you love as much as your "regulars" !!

Not keen on female crime writers myself - for some reason I just don't think they do as good a job. However, PJ Tracey are a mother and daughter writing team and I have enjoyed all theirs so far.

For other good crime, I love Harlen Coben, Jeffrey Deaver, Ian Rankin, Peter Robinson and Michael Connolly.

Oh I think that "who else writes like...?" is on line. I saw it once. It was great, I wish I'd kept the website.

Stuart Macbride is fab.

And a vote for Kate Atkinson. When Will There Be Good News was great.

If you like Donna Leon, try Andrea Camilleri - he writes about a Sicilian policeman.

Oh, and Christopher Brookmyre. Sorry, no women, they've already been covered by other posters.

One more female 'Tartan Noir'writer: Louise Welsh - The Cutting Room.
