I’m reading a lot of books about loss and grief at the moment, I lost my mum this year and I think it’s helping me process, can anyone recommend a beautiful book? I read a lot but not classics and not light chick lit either, something in the middle! If it’s cheap on kindle even better!

Sorry for your loss. The Heart’s invisible furies is an amazing book but very sad.

I'm listening to the audiobook just now. It's very good but thanks for the warning. I usually avoid weepies! I read another John Boyne book which was very funny so I think he's an amazing writer but clearly varied in tone!

Before the coffee gets cold

In a quiet Tokyo café, there’s a seat that lets you travel back in time; but only for the length of a single cup of coffee.

In Toshikazu Kawaguchi’s internationally beloved series, the Before the Coffee Gets Cold books explore a simple yet profound question: If you could go back in time, who would you want to meet again? With each visitor to the café, a new story unfolds bittersweet, heartwarming, and deeply human.

Told with gentle humor and emotional clarity, these stories invite readers to reflect on love, regret, and the small, beautiful moments that shape our lives.

Tender, quirky, and quietly powerful, this series is perfect for fans of intimate storytelling with a touch of magical realism.

I loved A Man Called Ove. He is grieving for his wife throughout the book. Such a lovely ending and yes, I did cry Smile
