I've preordered Janice Hallett's new book The Silent Appeal, and I can't wait for it to arrive.
What are you looking forward to being released?

Leigh Bardugo - Dead Beat. It’s the final part of the trilogy and I can’t wait!

hardshoulderr · 02/09/2026 20:20

The Jon Ronson is average.
just finished it

Passwordsaremynemesis · 02/09/2026 12:16

Jon Ronson’s new one. And thanks for the heads up on the Anita Brookner bio!

HeathenPlayingHouse · 02/09/2026 11:58

The Mountain Always Returns by Antonio Vizintin, it’s hopefully coming out in October.

In case you want some suggestions I would:
A) if you haven’t already, listen to the audio version of DCC
B) read He Who Fights With Monsters

Ooooo I have mouse I have!! Wasn’t until about the third book I realised the characters were all narrated by the same person. Jeff Hays is indeed a genius!!

I don’t know anyone else RL who has read/listened to them, and I’m desperate to!!

Will def give your other suggestion a go! Fill the gap in my life ;)

Thank you.

Kajjsa · 02/09/2026 09:40

I have so many on pre- order this autumn.

I also look forward to Liane Moriarty’s new book, but haven’t enjoyed her last one, I hope this one will take her back to her old form.

William Boyd Cold Sunset
Lucy Foley Grand Alpine Murder
David McCloskey London Station

These are just some as my list is long….

I LOVED the Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley. Her son, Harry Whittaker (who finished off the Seven Sisters last book) has started a sequel series and the first book is coming out in November. Called ‘Orlando’ (the book shop guy in the Star story). Apparently it has the similar dual timeline and features Charles Dickens, another of my favourite authors.

There's a book called The Winter Guest by Sarah Moss coming out. I've not read anything by her, but as soon as I read the blurb I knew that was going to be my Christmas read and put it straight on my birthday list!

Sarah Moss is excellent!

Could you tell me the name of the Barbara Kingsolver and Laura Shepherd Robinson books please?

Show quote history

The new Kingsolver is called Partita

the new Laura SR is called We are the Dead and I believe it’s the first in a series

Letsgetthiswrongagain · 31/08/2026 13:40

@hardshoulderr Now why didn’t I think of that? Which of course I did but nothing new came up when I entered Laura Shepherd Robinson nor does it show on her own website. Anyway, I’ve found it now through her Instagram.

Terpsichore · 31/08/2026 12:20

Hermione Lee’s Anita Brookner biography

This 👆

I'm watching my library catalogue like a hawk as I'm determined not to be the 35th person on the reservation list, as I usually am. They haven’t listed it yet.

Goodnight Evangeline, the new Robert Galbraith novel about Strike and Robin.

I'm reading the third one at the moment.

I've got 3 on my list - Emily St John Mandel, Madeline Miller and David McCloskey. All come out at around the same time so I'll have to see how the mood takes me as to the order I read them in

@Jcee Thank you. I had no idea that there was a new Emily St John Mandel book out.

I'm looking forward to the new Liane Moriarty book which was published this week. It's a sequel to Big Little Lies which is her best one in my opinion. I'm also looking forward to the new Kate Atkinson.

SlightlyTremulous · 29/08/2026 16:00

The new Rachel Cusk sounds amusing. Hermione Lee’s Anita Brookner biography. Louise Kennedy’s Stations.

Ihaveneedofwaternear · 29/08/2026 15:49

A Girl out of Time by Audrey Niffeneiger
