Book icks

I love hearing peoples biggest book icks.

I hate when plot holes are explained by characters being so rich that they have access to technology that doesn’t exist.
I hate when a character is paralysed and then it turns out that they were faking it - you can’t fake it for months or in some books years!
I hate when books are described as ‘the next gone girl’ like it isn’t a major spoiler.

I'm sure I have loads more I can’t think of right now.

It's less an 'ick' than total incomprehension -- characters who are so identikit thet can only really be told apart by their names and hair colour, so you literally are only reading to find out why A did B to C, even though they're virtually indistinguishable. Recent example, All Her Fault.

Random Rich Vaguely Careerist Woman 1's apparently meek nanny abducts the child of Random Rich Vaguely Careerist Woman 2. Both of them are surrounded by indistinguishable male husbands, colleagues and brothers.

When every female character’s looks, clothes, etc. are detailed and never for the male characters.

When the main character is super rich.

Not just books but also tv, I hate it when a female character is completely undeveloped and actually only exists to get kidnapped/attacked/murdered to provide motivation for the (male) main character.

This happens a lot when it’s the man’s wife.
