Recommendations for funny, uplifting books please 🙏🏻

I’ve recently read a few pretty heavy, depressing books (haven’t even finished one of them, gave up half way through) and I’m desperate to read something much lighter and funny. ‘Laugh on the train’ type of book.
any recommendations please? 🙏🏻

The Mapp and Lucia books by EF Benson.
Three Men In A Boat by Jerome K Jerome.
Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons.

Any Bill Bryson travel book.
Any Adrian Mole books - they are even funnier now I’m middle aged.
James Herriot is a very funny writer.

Totally agree with Leonard and Hungry Paul and any PG Wodehouse. He has me laughing from the first paragraph. Genius.

For full on funny, nothing can beat Wodehouse for fiction and Bill Bryson for non-fiction imo.

The Jeeves and Wooster books by PG Wodehouse are some of the funniest I've ever read - absolutely laugh out loud – or I do anyway!

Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom

Despite the title, it is a heart-warming novel. It's a bit "A wonderful Life"-esque in that it demonstrates the impact we all have on each other, without us knowing it. A fairly short, easy read.

Also, I like Marian Keyes for the funny, uplifting novels. The Walsh sisters ones, particularly.

I loved Small Bomb at Dimperley by Lissa Evans and The Echo Chamber by John Boyne. Both very light-hearted and funny.
