Mine would be The Kite Runner.

What is the Kite runner about?

MingMingtheWonderPet · 14/06/2008 18:44

I really enjoyed Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian too.

Secret Diary of a Slummy Mummy made me weep with laughter.

When a crocodile eats the sun just made me weep.

In the Woods by Tana French.

Also the Kite Runner for the third time!

Elasticwoman · 14/06/2008 18:29

MaryAnn - how did you get on with the Ukrainian language in that book?

radcliffe · 14/06/2008 15:52

I would say for me either The Private Lives of Pippa Lee by Rebecca\Miller or The Road Home by Rose Tremain. Both very well written and memorable.

rosybud · 13/06/2008 14:01

The Great Gatsby - F Scott Fitzgerald.

Have wanted to read it for ages and loved it.

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/06/2008 13:59

Secret life of a slummy mummy. SUPERB!

MorocconOil · 12/06/2008 22:54

Patrick Gale- Notes on An Exhibition. Comforting and not depressing like alot of the other books I have read recently. I found Thousand Splendid Suns compelling but very disturbing.

squilly · 12/06/2008 22:50

Cloud Atlas, David Mitchell (?? - I think that was his name anyway). Fab book.

magicfarawaytree · 12/06/2008 20:29

The secret life of a slummy mummy- just finished it - laughed my socks off.

FeelingEvil · 12/06/2008 20:27

On Chesil Beach, Ian McEwan
Beautifully crafted

littlerach · 12/06/2008 19:59

Magician's Assistant, Anne Pratchett.

Also, Someone Call the Midwife, might be Jennifer Woth?
Very interesting.

MehgaLegs · 12/06/2008 19:42

I have just finished Julie Orringer's How to Breathe Underwater which I loved.

lljkk · 12/06/2008 19:42

Dunno about best, but Trust Nobody & He Kills Coppers & The Woods were good.
