Yes Peaches… is the third book in the Chocolat series. My fave book of all time is BlackBerry Wine by Joanne Harris, I find it wonderfully nostalgic.

Is Peaches… a Joanne Harris book?

I’m not sure if this is the correct thread for me. I’ve struggled with the last couple of books I’ve read (bought for me) as I’m trying to read the backlog of books I own. I’m now choosing between The Midnight Library, The Taxidermists Daughter or Peaches for Monsieur Le Cure. Any recommendations? I want to read something engrossing that doesn’t feel hard work!

Technically I didn’t own it but I borrowed it from kindle unlimited some time last year and it’s sat there taking up (virtual) space ever since so I’m counting it!

Finally finished The Silk Roads - by Peter Frankopan. I seem to have bought more than I read in July.

Finished and enjoyed The Rose Code by Kate Quinn - fictional about three women working for Bletchley Park.

Finally a RWYO - Maybe You Should Talk to Someon, by Lori Gottlieb. Review (such as it is) on the main thread.

Finally finished Night Waking - Sarah Moss

Didn’t love it at first but it did get better for me towards the end.

Also a trashy kindle unlimited romance I’ve had on my kindle since late last year Dare to Love Me - Rosa Lucas Fun enough, forgettable and nothing special even for the genre but I finished it in a day (on holiday which it’s perfect for).

A couple more RWYO, An Island Parish by Nigel Farrell, Chowry by Jean Forbes-Robertson and Ice Cold in Alex by Christopher Landon. Reviews to follow on 50B.

I seem to have just had a good week! Today I have finished Cloistered - Catherine Coldstream about her time as a nun. Will put review on 50B thread.

I have also now deleted from my Kindle some Shakespeare plays as realistically I am never going to read them - not sure why I downloaded them in the first place.

I’m working my way through Night Waking by Sarah Moss on my kindle at the moment, and just started on Audible SuperInfinite by Katherine Randell, both of which have been knocking around a while on my devices - particularly the Moss.

I have DNF Death at the Sign of the Rook by Kate Atkinson. I would quite like to try Jackson Brodie but think I need to start at the beginning of the series and this had been on my shelf for ages.

Just looked back at last year's thread to discover I had 107 unread books on my Kindle on 1 July 2025 so feeling quite good to get down to 70 (particularly as I have also bought 24 Kindle books during that period).

I'm on a roll and have finished A Game of Lies - Clare Mackintosh today. Easy-reading, page turning mystery - semi sequel to The Last Party. Down to 70 unread books on my Kindle!

And also now finished The Thirty-Nine Steps - John Buchan which I have also had since 2014. I have read this before many years ago. It's pretty dated and some views expressed that reflect that. Will review on 50B thread.

Finished Emma - Jane Austen which has been on my Kindle since 2014! It is a re-read as I did it for either O or A level - can’t recall which. Grateful for anyone who can remember which it was....

Finished Why be happy when you could be normal last night, by Jeanette Winterson, and utterly loved it. Must read more Winterson - I thought I'd read Oranges are not the only fruit but listening to this one made me think no, I think I'd absorbed some stuff about it by osmosis but not actually read it. (I've definitely read something else about a northern, evangelical Christian family but I don't think it was that) - so I will go back and rectify that. I've probably done it in the wrong order but oh well.

This was a joy.
