50 Bookers 2025 Meet Up

MamaNewtNewt · 27/03/2025 12:44

Just setting up a chat to firm up plans for a Southern meet up and a Northern meet up.

Lets see who is interested, then firm up locations and dates.

I know there are a few of us who want to come but might not be able to make it, so no judgement at all for those who decide nearer the time that they can’t make it. Hope to meet some of you this year!

@AgualusasLover I,ve PMd you

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 30/03/2025 11:53

I have sent a pm to Agua and Mama. * *

AgualusasLover · 30/03/2025 11:04

If (like me)you are open to both then drop us both a line.

For LON at the moment thinking of June due to someone who lives overseas being in the UK then, but can work it out.

AgualusasLover · 30/03/2025 11:03

Let’s do the same for London, pop me a PM and I’ll drop an email when we have some numbers and we’ll poll a date. Even if you are tent still worth it but can post date here. Outside of date the rest stays on email to avoid Dave the Trucker 🤣

MamaNewtNewt · 30/03/2025 08:49

@BiscuitsBooks Yes we did it via email last year. If those who are interested in a northern meet-up, even tentatively, could message me their email that would be great.

I would love to do the London meet. How does it work? Do we share contact details via private messaging?

BadSpellaSpellaSpella · 29/03/2025 19:18

Would love to attend a southern met up, really enjoyed the London one last year

RomanMum · 29/03/2025 15:11

I’m up for the London meet up, depending on dates. Last year’s was lovely - relaxing, good company & book chat, bookshop browsing, and a pub lunch. Would thoroughly recommend 😊

ChessieFL · 29/03/2025 14:56

I’m tentatively up for the London meet up, depending on timings.

CrepuscularCritter · 28/03/2025 17:59

I really enjoyed the London meet last year and would love to do it again. I've been away from the threads this year so far (MIL v ill), but I have a pile of read books to add (hopefully soon).

To clarify, Shackleton, we aren’t going to the Pole 😀

I really want Shackleton to turn up with a woollen balaclava, a cat and a bottle of whiskey.

Cherrypi · 28/03/2025 16:59

I might be up for this either London or the lower north

ShackletonSailingSouth · 28/03/2025 14:46

@SheilaFentiman not interested then 🤷 😅

MamaNewtNewt · 28/03/2025 14:28

Shall we see who wants to attend and then vote on the best location out of the main cities (Sheffield / Leeds / York / Liverpool / Manchester / Durham / Newcastle / Other) and dates.

Feel like Durham has been promoted a bit there 😂.

Preferences purely due to being local to me:
Durham
York
Newcastle
Leeds
Sheffield
Manchester
Liverpool

Frankly, if any of us were glittering social butterflies, we wouldn't spend so much time with books.....I'd start from an assumption of fairly widespread social awkwardness.

Boiledeggandtoast · 28/03/2025 08:39

I'd be very interested in the London meet up please. Sadly I wasn't able to make it last year.

AgualusasLover · 28/03/2025 07:46

I am the queen of typos - ‘without too much fuss’.

AgualusasLover · 28/03/2025 07:46

@MamaNewtNewt shall we start with June for London to capture @noodlezoodle ans Sept for north to potential get @LadybirdDaphne and if not we can go back to the drawing board?

To reassure people, both meet ups last time had room for taking a breather etc without too much frame.
Manchester was in the back room of a bookshop so you could go off and browse, plus enough of us that convo sometimes became smaller groups rather than always having to speak to everyone. London involved some walking about and pottering in book shops, and we had lunch at a pub where we were spread over smaller tables but opposite the second hand book shops, so smaller and able to easily take time out.

noodlezoodle · 28/03/2025 02:10

I would love to join a London meet up and think I'll be in England for 2 to 3 weeks in June, but I know that I will be very lucky if my diary and the thread diary align. Will lurk here nonetheless!

And no hat? My head has failed us!

Well, you sound lovely. I'm sorry you find crowds/new people so horribly stressful. I go shy or gobby - neither is ideal.

I'm exactly the same, I’m either crippingly shy, or nervously over-talkative, so that I feel I’ve put people off either way.
