Hi is anyone interested in joining a book club? I've been trying to find one for a while but they're all either massive online communities, totally silent and dead, very niche genres, or require a paid subscription. I'm thinking of something that's a bit of a smaller group, we can post here if it's allowed or in a private sub I will create on Reddit, and maybe even do Zoom/teams meetings if people would like that.

For me, 40s F, it's cliche but I really enjoy a good psychological thriller or crime/murder mystery. Don't mind a bit of supernatural, beach feel good reads, enjoy some feminist themes, sometimes historical, sometimes classic. Cannot get into sci fi or fantasy! Am happy to be the one to choose a monthly book or take it in turns to nominate the next read.

If anyone's interested please reply and I'll try to figure it out!

And I like detectives/crime esp Australian noir. Don't like fantasy or gangs/organised crime, otherwise enjoy most genres.

Great idea
Since moving here 10 years ago, I've had 4 people tell me they are in book groups. Despite saying I'd love a book group, they are all friends or in a settled group etc etc. it's often said on boards to 'join a book group' but ime it's not that easy!

Oo yes I’m interested!

35 and love psychological thrillers too, authors like BP Walter, Lisa Jewell, Lucy Foley etc

I would be very interested, like most genres mentioned and always happy to try something new! Great idea, thanks!

CharlotteLightandDark · 20/08/2024 23:10

I’d be up for this, I also like psychological thrillers and biographies :)

Hi I'm definitely interested. Mid 50's, read anything and everything!!! Love travel books, autobiography and fiction. No particular gender, have a varied range of reading. Looking forward to hearing from you 😁

MsNeis · 20/08/2024 23:04

Count me in, too! Great idea, OP!
I love all genres already mentioned!

mustbefunny · 20/08/2024 22:57

I'm in! I've been part of a few different book clubs over the years 1) great book selection but folded due to family / distance. 2) way too high brow, trying far too hard for niche books which I just found very dull. 3) online, very fun group of women, great books but also all far too busy having fun elsewhere to get a meet-up schedule going!

My last 5 books:

  • The Running Grave
  • Demon Copperhead
  • On Chesil Beach
  • The Rachel Project
  • Verity

I'm in! I'm 38, love all psychological thrillers/mystery thrillers/horror/romance (sometimes)

I alternate between paper back and my kindle. Read every evening (if kids allow it)

Fivefoottwoooo · 20/08/2024 21:55

I'm 27 but have recently got back into reading and would love to join!
