Is anyone reading these? Really enjoying them, just finished Shadow Sister. I worked out who Pa Salt was in the first 2 but having trouble finding where he fits in this one!

Ok, now I know - he’s Mr Tanit, who works for Flora at High Weald during the war. Anagram of Titan.

I would never have guessed that, very subtle! My mum had no idea he appeared in the past stories but when I mentioned it she said that Mr Tanit had a love of roses the same as Pa Salt, I had forgotten that!

Yes Pa Salt appears at different stages of his life in all the past stories, I easily recognised him as a boy in the sculpture story and suspected who he was as a young man in the one about the musicians in Storm sister! I don't think it's a spoiler for the final book! I thought he must have had some connection to all the girls, and known their relatives at some point but am looking forward to reading how he adopted them all and who he actually is!

Hi, I've read 5 of them and have been trying to slow down as I also don't want to finish! So far there's been no confirmed sightings of Pa Salt but definitely something vague going on.

I love how wealthy they are, such escapism! Geneva, private planes, the freedom to work for fun not because they have to.

lmnabc · 06/03/2023 05:46

I'm just starting Tiggy and also had no idea that Pa appeared in any of them.

I discovered these books on here a few months ago when they were recommended. I always jot down good books I read about on MN

There’s hints that Pa Salt appears in each book, but very discreetly and in the background. The sister in question never gets to talk to him, but something reminds them of his presence. Can’t remember exactly, but it could be a waft of his favourite aftershave, for example.

Yes, those, but there’s also the idea that he appears under another name in the historical part of each book - like Mr Tanit (anagram of Titan) working at High Weald when Flora lived there.

Woah! What have I missed, I didn't realise Pa Salt appeared in the books. I love the series and am on the last one, The Missing Sister. Can't wait for the new one in May.
Can someone explain without giving too much away?

About Pa Salt? I don’t know whether Lucinda Riley ever confirmed it or whether it’s fans working it out but he seems to have cameos in each book.

Peridot1 · 04/03/2023 23:10

I had a suspicion I knew who he was in one book but can’t remember which one. Didn’t spot him in any others. Happy to wait and read the last one to see what it’s all about.

Ooh following with interest, I think I read them all but had to get from the Library in no particular order. Didn't realize Pa Salt showed up earlier?!

PabsyPops · 04/03/2023 21:23

I've read them all and am also oblivious to the Pa Salt story line...?

Looking forward to reading the final book.

GrumpySausage · 04/03/2023 21:12

Well the Pa Salt cameo has blown my mind. I've just collected book 3 the shadow sister today and looking forward to getting into it.

My friend is a massive fan of the series and I want to talk to her about this but if she doesn't know I don't want to spoil the last book for her!

mrsfeatherbottom · 04/03/2023 21:03

I love these books. Looking forward to the Pa Salt story

Luckingfovely · 04/03/2023 21:00

I've read all of them and also no idea what I've missed???

Loved them so much even while being oblivious Grin

Then went and read all of her other books and thought they were all brilliant as well.

Someone please tell us what's going on?

Ahhaiknow · 04/03/2023 20:54

@Pearlsister @GreenShadow im only on the second book but didn’t realise about Pa Salt appearing! What?

Notonthestairs · 04/03/2023 20:46

I am with Pearlsister & GreenShadow - what have I missed?!

Pearlsister · 04/03/2023 20:22

GreenShadow · 04/03/2023 18:03

Hang on!

What have I missed?

I've finished book 5 and had no idea about Pa Salt appearing in the historical stories. I'm going to go back and skip read them all!

You'd better not explain to much though as that might spoil it for others who haven't read very far yet...

I've just finished all these books and have obviously missed something as well.
Could someone explain what I've missed?

mynewusername2023 · 04/03/2023 18:12

Yes I've read them all and am waiting for the final book to come out in May.

Me too.

Though I didn't know until now that the author had died. How sad.

That's a shame! Can you remember how Pa Salt fits in with Flora's story? Can't work it out!

Riverlee · 02/03/2023 13:51

Loved these books and looking forward to the last one.

I spread them out as well.

Really sad that Lucinda Riley died at such a young age.

I’ve really enjoyed a couple of her other books as well.

Ahhaiknow · 01/03/2023 17:43

I LOVE these, I’d read a few of her other books before and got the set for Xmas. Finished the first two, I’m spreading them out as don’t want to finish them too quickly. So far I like the first one best but I think that’s just because I like the setting of Brazil! Really makes me feel like I’m on holiday in a hot country!

Bbq1 · 01/03/2023 17:41

Aw yes, she left notes for him, had written some sections and apparently even when she was very ill was still guiding her son through the final story. It's so touching and fitting that he is completing it om behalf of his mum. All of Lucindas novels are wonderful but if anyone is interested, after her death her son published "Murder at Fleet House". It was a book she finished years ago but never released.. It's a departure for her as it's a muder mystery - but it's a fantastic read.

Blueswirl · 01/03/2023 08:52

That's a good idea. Yes I heard her son finished the last one after she died using notes she made. Sad there won't be any more books from her.
