Can you find a book by vague plot??

Experience tells me that you lot can find anything.

Three girls, school friends.
One is killed when they are in their teens,
One returns.

It comes under thriller, mystery and suspense.

IIRC the cover is dark; blacks, greys, browns, in woods.

Thank you.

@SheilaFentiman I've read In The Woods. I'd gratefully receive other recommendations?

The book I was thinking of was She Lies In Wait.

I feel like I've read it but I'm hopeless at remembering titles.

Ididanamechange · 16/02/2023 22:44

The sister by Louise jensen?

SheilaFentiman · 16/02/2023 21:22

In The Woods is bloody brilliant and please read it!

I’m going to check out all the others now!

It is She Lies In Wait @mynannygoat7 thank you 😊
So it wasn't three friends, it was six. Though I had remembered the cover.

This will be unpopular, but I find Nicci French hit and miss. Though I always appreciate a recommendation if you have one? @IreallyLikeCrisps

@SwimminginGin and @Pinkbananas01 I own The Girls Who Disappeared, I must get round to it. It's not that one, though you have made me want to read it next,

@ElegantPuma I've never heard of a protagonist writing words on herself, though that makes me think of Richie James Edwards.

The Flower Girls looks good @MarmiteWine, it's on my wish list now.

I'm not going to read all of these back to back, they will give me nightmares.

It's she lies in wait by Gytha lodge

IreallyLikeCrisps · 16/02/2023 21:08

It's not a Nicci French book is it? Sounds familiar, will see if I can find it!

I've read The Wicked Girls @SunshineOnARainyDay, it's not that. Good book though.

Also not Sharp Objects @larkstar and @ElegantPuma, again, I have read it and it made me very uncomfortable because it reminded me of my own childhood.

I've read Into The Woods @MarmiteWine, it was good but that's not it.

Bum. I wrote a really long post and it has gone.

It isn't Beautiful Liars @Lovewineandchocs, but I've just put it on my wish list.

@AConvivialHost it isn't The Lying Game, again I have put that on my wish list.

I'm going to spend a fortune.

@WombsofWimbledon what was the book where someone is pushed over the bannisters?

Another vote for Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn.

Does the protagonist self harm by writing words on herself?

MarmiteWine · 10/02/2023 21:38

Into The Woods by David Mark?1

MarmiteWine · 10/02/2023 21:36

The Flower Girls by Alice Clark-Platts?

larkstar · 10/02/2023 21:27

Gillian Flynn - Sharp Objects?

Pinkbananas01 · 10/02/2023 20:19

Claire Douglas the girls who disappeared

SwimminginGin · 10/02/2023 19:49

Sounds like The Girls Who Disappeared by Claire Douglas?

SunshineOnARainyDay · 10/02/2023 19:41

The Wicked Girls by Alex Marwood?

AConvivialHost · 10/02/2023 18:56

The Lying Game by Ruth Ware?

Lovewineandchocs · 10/02/2023 18:31

Beautiful liars?

@NoSquirrels it isn't in A Dark, Dark Wood.
Though that too is on the.list now

It's not The Orchid Girls, but thank you @Toothfairypaypal nor The Darkest Corners @Taswegian.

@Kalettesarethebest the friend does come home, but it isn't set on the coast.

I haven't read it @WombsofWimbledon, I may not need to now 😂. I don't know whether the murdered girl is pushed over the banisters.
The murdered girl, I think dies in the woods, I can't be sure.

No @rubydoobydoo it isn't Don't Go Back.

Thank you to everyone who has tried. It isn't a Susan Lewis @BreakingPointAgain.

Keep 'em coming.

rubydoobydoo · 10/02/2023 03:11

Is it "Don't Go Back" by Mark West?

WombsofWimbledon · 10/02/2023 02:23

Does the girl that’s killed get pushed over the banister at the top of the stairs?

Kalettesarethebest · 10/02/2023 02:03

This sounds really familiar...is it set on the coast? Does the friend come home?

BreakingPointAgain · 10/02/2023 02:03

Maybe a novel by Susan Lewis?

WandaWonder · 10/02/2023 01:54

I am pretty sure I have read it, no help though as I can't remember the name or author
