I should say I think what sparked this eruption of frustration was when at the end of The Ghost Fields (I think) Nelson went back to Ruth, held her hand and said something and she was in such a dreamlike state she didn’t grasp what he said. FFS woman!! Other than that, I think she is amazingly courageous and dignified about him.
