Welcome to the second thread of the 50 Book Challenge for this year.

The challenge is to read fifty books (or more!) in 2017, though reading fifty isn't mandatory. Any type of book can count, it's not too late to join, and please try to let us all know your thoughts on what you've read.

The previous thread is here.

How're you getting on so far?

Just checking in so I don't lose my place.

I'm still reading Touch by Claire North.
I'm finding it a bit waffley with a lot of introspective thoughts and memories.

Hopefully something will happen soon!

VanderlyleGeek · 14/01/2017 13:04

Thank you, southeast.

CoteDAzur · 14/01/2017 13:03

I loved Middlesex, too.

CoteDAzur · 14/01/2017 13:03

I hope you stay this year, too, eitak Flowers

eitak22 · 14/01/2017 12:57

Cote hoping to stick around more this year, last year was a challenging one to say the least.

eitak22 · 14/01/2017 12:55

Yay new thread :)

Finished number 4 The little book of Hygge: the Danish way to live well Meik Wiking. Read this in a couple of days and found it really interesting to have a bit more of a tangible idea of what makes something Hygge and how to achieve it even if some aren't really possible in my life and not easy to achieve for many people. If you enjoyed the others this is a simple read with research findings and some lovely photos too.

Now starting book 5 E is for Evidence Sue Grafton. 6 chapters in and enjoying so far.

CoteDAzur · 14/01/2017 12:54

I also remember some sort of argument at the beginning of last year when several newbies took it as a personal affront when we said we would like to see a short review of the books everyone reads Confused I think that debacle may have pushed up the no of posts, too.

SatsukiKusakabe · 14/01/2017 12:54

I've had the Virgin Suicides on my kindle for ages and never choose it, so your review might be the spur I need. I thought Middlesex was great but found the Marriage Plot just so so.

CoteDAzur · 14/01/2017 12:52

Satsuki Smile Yes, we always have loads of people at the beginning of the year. Sadly, not so much towards the end. I hope this year will be different.

CoteDAzur · 14/01/2017 12:51

I'm reading The Virgin Suicides now & have The Dark Net on my Kindle, but i think I'll have to start with the Handel book soon.

SatsukiKusakabe · 14/01/2017 12:43

Just looked and last year's thread 2 was started on 14th Jan, too Grin

CoteDAzur · 14/01/2017 12:35

2nd thread on 14 Jan Smile

EverySongbirdSays · 14/01/2017 12:18

Checking in, currently got NW on the go.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 14/01/2017 12:12

Just updated on last thread so marking my place here while I decide what to read next. Think I might go for a non-fiction read next...

SatsukiKusakabe · 14/01/2017 12:04

Thanks, checking in. I thought it seemed particularly busy this year, I wonder how many threads we'll get through.

Sadik · 14/01/2017 11:39

Thanks SouthEast - wow, that was quick for the first thread!

I'm listening to The Dark Net on audio, really enjoying it but trying to stretch it out as I've got decorating to do.

Reading Forty Autumns by Nina Willner, very interesting subject matter (one East German family divided by the Iron Curtain) but goodness her writing is clunky.

HandsomeDevil · 14/01/2017 11:32

thank you Southeastdweller
I've just started Alias Grace for my fourth book of the year. Was interested to read all the Atwood love/hate/indifference on the last thread. This is my first of hers, and I actually really like it so far.
