Morning!
I want to give a nod to Terry Pratchett when I re-name my new home (house currently has an awful name - think Daret - named after the owners, Darren and Janet.)
Is there a way of doing that without giving my house a ridiculous name?
So no to: Dunwitchin; Rincewind's Retreat; the Unseen University; Carrot's cottage; Detritus' Den etc Grin

Any thoughts?

MrsTP Sad - I only read my copy of TSC at Easter. I am very glad I did, although there were several visits from the Onion Fairy while I read.
I'm going his memorial tomorrow. Rather scared that it will all become a bit too much.

Scoon House
Keel House
The Pork Futures Warehouse

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/04/2016 22:02

I will raise you my unread (and I think it will always be) copy of The Shepherd's Crown. It is by my bed and I can't bear to open it because it would be the last time.

Sorry to be such a downer.

Zogthebiggestdragon · 13/04/2016 21:59

I have envy of MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig's map collection. That is all. But I will raise you my Compleat Ankh - Morpork.

I like Crundells, Widdershins and/or Turnwise, Lilac something and Crivens! (You would need the !).

Actually Crivens! sounds quite posh (if you didn't know).

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 13/04/2016 21:49

Love Lilac House.

Pratchett House
Lancre House
Pseudopolis House
Ramkin House

Let me consult my maps, hang on...

This thread makes me happy.

Another vote for Crundells
Or
Djelibaybi (that would be fun to spell every time you fill out a form)
Or
The Pink Pussycat Club
Or
Roundworld....because it is

Thanks for the list of locations Perspicacia.
Now I really want to call it 'Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons'

The Iron Foundry (Carrot is Ironfoundersson)
Angua
Gaspode's Abode
The Downspout

MidnightVelvetthe5th · 13/04/2016 20:48

Pratchettly Rivendell

PerspicaciaTick · 13/04/2016 20:40

If The Oggs is too unsubtle you could try "Tir Nani Ogg" - the name of Nanny's house.

MidnightVelvetthe5th · 13/04/2016 20:37

I don't like Tiffany either, I like the witches, then wizards, then Watch Smile

Ok ill try subtle:

Temple of Offler (complete with crocodile statue)
Ook
Frog Pills Factory
SmileGrinSmile

The Other World of the Elves
Esmeraldas Retreat
The Oggs
Magrats Cottage/Goodie Whemper Cottage
Uberwald

My personal fave is The Oggs :)

Zogthebiggestdragon · 13/04/2016 20:32

I quite like Cori Celesti!

Ok, watch books: Pseudopolis yard? Maybe not. I'd love Treacle Mine Road but that might not fit with your 'subtle' request. ...The Whore Pits?

Shambling Gate
The Shades
Sator Square
The backs
Dolly Sisters (I would love to know what neighbours made of that)
Misbegot Bridge?

I don't think any of these will work for you but it was fun looking. ..

Scone Valley?

This has given me a completely legitimate reason to cracking out my Compleat Ankh -Morpork, many thanks!

PerspicaciaTick · 13/04/2016 20:31

I don't think PTerry did subtle puns when it came to naming locations Grin
They are all pretty unsubtle

Hiddlins (secrets)
Imp y Celyn
Cori Celesti

Coffeethrowtrampbitch · 13/04/2016 20:27

Crundells after Sam and Sybil Vimes' country estate?

The Dancers after the standing stones in Lancre?

I love all these suggestions, I hope I happen to go by your house one day, and see a sign for the name which makes me smile!

Quietattheback · 13/04/2016 20:16

Cripple Mr Onion cottage ignores the plea for subtlety.

LOL!
Requested info:

The Watch books are definitely my favourite. Like the witches too (especially Lords and Ladies - but not a huge Tiffany fan please don't hurt me) and also anything to do with the Unseen University ones.

House is detached, brick built, rural.

I love all these suggestions but any slightly more subtle ones? Grin

OP posts:
magratsflyawayhair · 13/04/2016 20:01

I'd just call it Widdershins or Turnwise

MidnightVelvetthe5th · 13/04/2016 19:58

How about:

Mrs Palm's House :)
Fools' Guild (no offence)
Quirm College
Morporkia
Dolly Sisters
Wizards Quarter
Cori Celesti
Soul Cake Duck House

Going out of Ankh Morpork there is:

Bad Ass
Slice
Bes Pelargic
The Dungeon Dimensions

ApocalypseNowt · 13/04/2016 19:48

Can you give us a bit more info on what the house is like?

Terrace? How may floors? Does it overlook anything? Any distinguishing features?

This thread has made me want to name my house. I gave my previous two houses secret names.

PerspicaciaTick · 13/04/2016 19:42

Turtle Rise
A'Tuin House

PerspicaciaTick · 13/04/2016 19:40
