I thought maybe we should have a thread where if someone sees a kindle deal that they think is really good for a book they have read they could recommend here. That way we can pick up new book recommendations at cheaper prices and grow our to be read list

Apple Tree Yard is just £2.10 at the moment.

Laquila · 22/03/2016 20:31

Actually there's another Maggie O'Farrell on at the mo for 99p.

Has anyone read The Red Queen, by Victoria Aveyard?

Laquila · 22/03/2016 20:24

Ooh excellent thread. I've had good deals so far this year on Maggie O'Farrell and Margaret Atwood - off to buy Olive Kitteridge now. Gutted I missed the deal of Alan Cumming's memoirs though - I love him so much.

SilverMachine · 22/03/2016 20:14

I'm now watching this thread but I suspect this will be bad news for my bank balance and my social life!

We Are All Completely beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler is £1.89 at the moment and well worth a read.

TenarGriffiths · 22/03/2016 19:49

Fool's Assassin by Robin Hobb is 99p at the moment. If it's anywhere near as good as her Farseer Trilogy it should be worth reading.

Especially for anyone who was a teenager in 60's and 70's I have just thoroughly enjoyed reading Bob Harris's autobiography 'Still Whispering after all these years' which is 99p on Kindle at the moment.
There are quite a lot of lists of tracks and musicians and the narrative jumps about a bit but overall it is fascinating to read about a lot of my musical heroes etc.
And for anyone who is a cat lover the little section about his abandoned kitten Razz is really lovely - tissues recommended. Overall he comes across as a lovely gentle, kind , dedicated man who has helped provide the soundtrack to a lot of people's lives.
He is also great friends with the lovely lovely Robert Plant!

The Ann Cleves Shetland books 1 to 3 are currently 99p each. I really enjoyed book 1 a couple of years ago but never got around to reading more, so have just bagged myself books 2 to 3.

clarz · 14/03/2016 15:05

Yes I loved A year of living danishly! It's made me really want to move to Denmark now...

I just picked up this book 'Driving Over Lemons' about the Genesis drummer Chris Stewart moving to Spain with his family. Sounds like a fun read and is only 99p on the daily deal today!

Watership Down is 71p. Never read it, but at that price happy to take the risk that it might be of its time / not live up to the hype / be too upsetting.

Only just spotted this thread. I love a kindle (genuine) bargain!

whippetwoman · 14/03/2016 09:20

tibradden, that's great. I loved it and I'm glad you are enjoying it too Smile

TenarGriffiths · 13/03/2016 17:39

The Long List Anthology, 21 stories long listed for the Hugo Award is 99p at the moment.

tibradden · 13/03/2016 09:45

Thanks Whippetwoman. Downloaded Olive Kitteridge and loving it. Best read for me this year.

Quogwinkle · 11/03/2016 05:41

I listened to the audio book of The Year of Living Danishly a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Recommended :)

The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan is also in today's daily deal, and that was pretty good too.

CaptainWarbeck · 11/03/2016 02:40

Living Danishly is 99p for any Scandi-fans. Haven't read it yet but just bought it and has lots of good reviews for any non-fiction fans.

whippetwoman · 09/03/2016 14:25

Quog, I am so tempted by The Thorn Birds. A good bit of escapism!

Quogwinkle · 09/03/2016 05:01

The Thorn Birds by Coleen McCullough is 99p in daily deal today. A good old blockbuster from the 80s. Loved it and the tv series :)

Jenijena · 08/03/2016 17:55

clarz not started it yet... The King of Sweden is a silly good natured yarn (though it does go on a bit)

Footle · 08/03/2016 16:09

Hi Pootle, it is isn't it ?

Pootle078 · 08/03/2016 16:05

This thread is seriously dangerous...

clarz · 08/03/2016 12:36

Jenijena how did you get on with the Ruby Wax book? I am puzzling over whether to start that or 'The Girl who save the king of sweden'

whippetwoman · 08/03/2016 09:02

Olive Kitteridge is £1.99 at the moment and I really rate this novel. It won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 2009. I've read 20 books so far this year and this is still the best one.

clarz · 07/03/2016 15:16

Kindle deals are the best thing about having an e-reader for sure! I'm super please the Ruby Wax 'Sane New World' is 99p today. I love her stand-up so looking forward to getting stuck into it!

You can buy it here for 99p today! Yay! ow.ly/Zaanq
