No, A God of Ruins was only published two months ago.

I finished it today. It's a terrific book.

BaconAndAvocado · 01/07/2015 20:12

What I meant was has she written a new one after God In Ruins!

I've read all her others. Except the book of short stories, must look that up!

auberginesrus · 28/06/2015 23:04

Ooh you lucky thing Bacon, all those lovely Kate Atkinson books to discover!

southeastdweller · 28/06/2015 21:32

Yes, she's written quite a few:

Wish I had the day off tomorrow to finish this.

BaconAndAvocado · 28/06/2015 20:47

I loved it too.

Anyone know if KA has written another book?

auberginesrus · 28/06/2015 15:58

Have literally just finished it and feeling a bit emotional! Think I need some time to digest and get my head around it (I felt the same after Life After Life too). I thought it was amazing, brilliant characters and some big themes, but that twist!

southeastdweller · 27/06/2015 21:46

I'm half-way through and enjoying it much more than Life After Life, which I had mixed feelings about. Also seeing myself in Viola to some extent, like Mini.

Postchildrenpregranny · 18/05/2015 23:10

Have just borrowed from my local library Loved Life after Life (I like all her novels) and looking forward to it .
Away with 4 friends for two days-my own hotel room so can read in bed til late into the night !

firefly78 · 18/05/2015 20:16

yes good idea!

CakeNinja · 18/05/2015 16:10

Not me!
I read LAL and it was so arduous that I really need a bread from her before I can read this one!
Not to say that I didn't like it, it was okay but found it tedious in places and very slow going. Overall I enjoyed it though.
None of my book club liked it!

hackmum · 18/05/2015 08:18

firefly78 - yes, I want to talk about the twist too but we would have to find a private thread to which no-one else is admitted! Perhaps we could have a thread and mark it SPOILERS?

DuchessofMalfi · 18/05/2015 06:22

Bought it yesterday from Audible. Planning to make a start today Smile

firefly78 · 17/05/2015 22:34

anyone finished it yet? i just have and need to talk about the twist!

southeastdweller · 15/05/2015 19:13

Just collected my library copy (which, very unusually for a library book, is signed). Looking forward to reading it in a couple of weeks, after I've read Life After Life.

BaconAndAvocado · 14/05/2015 20:23

Yippee! Just ordered,it from Amazon.

Expected delivery date Monday-Wednesday.

Just have to finish the Miniaturist now.........

firefly78 · 11/05/2015 23:03

its wonderful. she really is an incredible writer.

Hillijx · 11/05/2015 21:06

Glad I stumbled across this thread as love Kate Atkinson. Definately going to treat myself now.....if I waited for my husband like friendlyladybird then I may have a long wait!!

southeastdweller · 11/05/2015 20:51

I'm convinced - have reserved it from the library and will read Life After Life next week or week after. I'm 11th in the queue (but they have 15 copies!).

Minifingers · 11/05/2015 14:40

I'm listening to it as an audio book, as I did with Life after Life.

I'm in the final third of the book and have had a lump in my throat on and off throughout. It really is extraordinarily good - so poignant. I keep thinking about Teddy, and what it means to be good. Loathing Viola, and seeing bits of myself in her. Thinking also about the generation who lived through the war - my mother and her friends, their values, how life the world has changed since they were young.

Can't recommend the book strongly enough!

crapfatbanana · 11/05/2015 09:31

I'm still on Life After Life - about a quarter of the book left to go.

Might use my next Audible credit for the new one.

firefly78 · 11/05/2015 07:07

i started it. its fab. all the same characters. what a treat. thank you so much OP i wouldn't have known about it if you hadn't started this thread. Flowers

IamJeff · 11/05/2015 07:04

If anyone doesn't have audible you can get a free trial and get the book for free??I just got it with one of my credits...guilt free listening while doing the house and garden here we come!

eddiemairswife · 10/05/2015 23:04

I usually wait until novels come out in paperback, but I am sorely tempted; it's only £9 on Amazon. Will certainly re-read Life after Life first.

thecatsm0ther · 10/05/2015 22:54

Looking forward to reading this. I loved Life After Life. I would think you need to read Life After Life first though. Hoping it'll get cheaper soon though.

HindsightisaMarvellousThing · 10/05/2015 22:35

I'd forgotten this was out now - thanks for the reminder. Off to add it to my kindle then going to bed to read - what a treat!
