The Guardian has helpfully compiled a list of the new releases:

www.theguardian.com/books/2015/jan/02/books-2015-calendar-year-kazuo-ishiguro-jonathan-franzen-toni-morrison

I'm particularly excited about new books from Jon Ronson, Kate Atkinson (a companion volume to Life after Life), Jonathan Franzen and Sebastian Faulks. And David Lodge has a memoir out - am a big Lodge fan so really looking forward to that.

What about everyone else?

Also just noticed that Pierre Lemaitre has the final book in his Camille Verhoeven trilogy coming out next week. Am really looking forward to it as these are amazing books.

Provencalroseparadox · 23/02/2015 17:13

I saw it reviewed in the paper yesterday Hackmum and wasn't at all sure.

hackmum · 23/02/2015 17:10

The Kazuo Ishiguro one is out next week, I think. Seems a bit of a departure - a fantasy set during the Dark Ages. Might wait for someone else to read it first and let us know what they think!

From that list I've wishlisted Kate Atkinson, William Boyd, Robert Harris, Judy Blume.

Did you read The Mime Order yet Beaver? I really enjoyed.

The third book to follow The Passage and The Twelve by Justin Crinan should be out this year. I just saw on his Facebook page that it has gone to the publishersGrin Grin

I think I read somewhere that Vikram Seth was writing a sequel to A Suitable Boy. I'll have to earmark at least a couple of weeks to read that then.

SilkStalkings · 19/02/2015 09:38

Hoping to see something new from Lauren Grof and LR Fredericks. One of those First world problems when you discover a great writer and immediately want to devour their back catalogue but they're newish and there isn't much there yet Hmm

A Song of Shadows by John Connolly.
I really wish the next Game of Thrones book would come out, but suspecting it will be at least next year, if not longer.
Trigger Warning by Neil Gaiman.
The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro. I loved Never Let Me Go.
Library of Lost Souls by Ransom Riggs. I know these are YA books, but I fell in love with Miss Peregrine's Home for Lost Children and am looking forward to the film adaption.

I decided to read some classics this year. So far I managed to read Thomas Hardy- Tess of d'Urbervilles. I recommend it! Me and my best friend read it at the same time and what amazed me that we had totally different points of view about the book. She sympathized Angel and I- Alexander. We had opposite view and each of us had her own arguments.

mewkins · 19/01/2015 21:24

A new Patrick Gale book out in spring I think. And Kate Atkinson life after life follow up- can wait! And yes Jonathan Franzen too.

I'm also looking forward to the Jonathan Franzen one.

tatiana72 · 18/01/2015 15:58

I have enjoyed the latest book from Haruki Murakami, The Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage. I am a big fan, so I always look forward to his new work. Also, The Triple Package: What Really Determines Success by Jed Rubenfeld was quite an interesting analysis why certain groups of people are more successful than others. The author is the husband of Amy Chua, who wrote the Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother

FunkyMomo · 13/01/2015 14:10

Late Fragments by Kate Gross who died of colon cancer aged just 36 leaving behind twin boys aged 5 is simply a beautiful book and surprisingly life affirming. I highly recommend it and will be buying a copy for all my nearest and dearest this year. Google Kate Gross to read all about this amazing woman and mother

January 21st. I'm going to a preview of the first two episodes tomorrow night so very excited (though haven't read the books yet).

SkaterGrrrrl · 07/01/2015 20:36

When is the TV version coming out?

yesbutnobut · 07/01/2015 19:22

I think Hilary Mantel got very involved in the RSC productions of WH and BUTB - I'm sure I read somewhere that she felt it had given her a new lease of life. Then she wrote that Assassination of Margaret Thatcher book. I do hope she gets on with the next instalment too!

JeanneDeMontbaston · 07/01/2015 09:14

Ooh! I didn't know Scott Lynch had one due out. I try not to look at dates for him, because he's such a slow writer.

I'm stunned Hilary Mantel got Bring Up The Bodies written in the time she did, TBH. Although I don't know if she had written some of it before Wolf Hall was out? They are not short books.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 07/01/2015 08:58

She has health problems and that kind of writing takes a lot of research, so it doesn't have to be writer's block.
IIRC the list is all books that are coming out in the first half of the year, so we might still be able to hope for Cromwell some time before Christmas.

hackmum · 07/01/2015 08:41

The Hilary Mantel book isn't on the Guardian's list, so you do wonder. Maybe she has writer's block? Or has been spending too much time advising on the tv production of Wolf Hall (which I am so looking forward to).

I'm unreasonably excited about the next Gentleman Bastards book by Scott Lynch, but dubious that it'll be released on time. Also the next Song of Ice & Fire, but there's even less chance of that being out this year

SkaterGrrrrl · 06/01/2015 14:55

preordered

SkaterGrrrrl · 06/01/2015 14:49

SkaterGrrrrl · 06/01/2015 14:48

Top idea.

I'll bring the thermos of Irish coffee.
