Just that really.

I fell in love in Zadie Smith's prose, just finished 'On beauty'. In the middle of 'Anna Karenina' now and eyeing up 'A hundred years of solitude' in my handbag.

Interested in books that you would recommend, as this summery weather makes me want to curl up in a hammock and read, read, read..(don't have a hammock just yet so a beanbag has to do for now).

I'm reading The Retribution by Val McDermid. I don't usually read thrillers but was given the first two and then had to finish the series. I might try some more of her books once I've finished the next one.

The highway code by the DSA.

Not exciting but useful. (passed theory but my driving instructor is still quizzing me on it)

MrTumblesBavarianFanbase · 28/07/2014 17:58

Dublin by Edward Rutherford downstairs and Stones from The River upstairs... both quite good reads.

KurriKurri · 28/07/2014 17:56

The Ocean At The End of The Lane by Neil Gaiman - it is good so far.

Mybigfatredwedding · 28/07/2014 17:56

I bought the least graphic one for my mum, obfuskate, but I think she was still offended by it! Bit like the time I made her watch City of God, after forgetting how violent it was.....

NoSnowJustSand · 28/07/2014 16:43

I've read The Fault in Our Stars (didn't particularly enjoy it and was holding off on watching the film before I'd read the book; it's a rule) and the magnificent We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves. I highly recommend the latter!

Jayne35 · 28/07/2014 16:25

Am reading Birdman by Mo Hayder but am struggling a bit..

I really enjoy Mo Hayder but that one was a difficult read...

Currently reading Broken Angels by Graham Masterton. Before that I read the whole Gone series by Michael Grant, I think they are young adult books but I loved them.

Sallystyle · 28/07/2014 16:17

The Golem and the Djinni.

It is excellent.

littlepeas · 28/07/2014 16:15

The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness at the moment. Also about 250 pages into The Goldfinch and have been for months.........do intend to finish it at some point, but am one of the minority who doesn't love it.

wwbuffydo · 28/07/2014 16:03

Curlyweasel · 28/07/2014 14:41

I'm reading the Regeneration trilogy again - was one I wanted to keep on my Kindle (as I used to keep a copy on my bookshelf). Just finished last GOT instalment - surprised I got that far given how convoluted he's making the experience have a sneaky feeling I may have read them out of order

I know why the caged bird sings. I hadn't heard of Maya Angelou until her death. It's very good.
