Do you have a book that you regularly reread or is your literary comfort blanket?
Mine is The secret diary of Adrian Mole - the first one

Another one for American gods. It feels like going on holiday to your favourite place.

Lucky Jim Smile

VanitasVanitatum · 09/03/2014 22:37

Georgette Heyer, Anne of Green Gables, Enid Blyton (I know I shouldn't..) or the chalet school.

BlueJean · 09/03/2014 22:25

The Miss Read books.

Thrush green or Fairacre series ,I am not fussed.

Either will do and I can pick up any book and instantly know where I am in the story. Perfect for a non stressful read.

NorksAreMessy · 09/03/2014 19:56

For sheer joy and pleasure in every line I go back time and time again to Lord Peter Wimsey. Especially 'Murder must Advertise'

For regressing back to happy childhood it is the wonderfully disturbing 'Marian's dreams'

I agree, though, for perfect relaxation, I get those nice people at Audible arrange to have someone read it to me. Derek Jacobi reading Sherlock Holmes is PERFECT!

lellibobs · 09/03/2014 19:56

This has given me lots of inspiration for re-reads.
Think I'll start with 'Anne of Green Gables' . I loved those books.

Just re-reading previous posts - Goodnight Mister Tom is a wonderful book, I just about knew it off by heart when I was a teenager. I still think of pyjamas as 'pie-jarmers' Grin
