NadiaWadia · 15/08/2013 03:55

Well I have today had an e-mail from Amazon about the Summer Sale. Maybe they are sending them out in batches or something!

ribenainmyeye · 11/08/2013 20:49

Thanks schoolchauffeur I'm looking forward to it now. Love my nickname of ribeye by the way Grin

Levantine · 11/08/2013 19:42

Sad thanks

antimatter · 11/08/2013 15:01

Levantine - yes it was that book for 99p, they finished that promotion I think

schoolchauffeur · 11/08/2013 14:35

ribeye, I loved Spies and I passed it on to three or four other people who all enjoyed it too.

ribenainmyeye · 11/08/2013 13:13

big brother is there, just not included in the sale anymore which is a shame.

im going to buy spies by michael frayn but am a bit cautious! the bad reviews say its pretentious and dull and the 5 star review i tried to read contained 'oneself' so many times i was even more inclined to think this book may be pretentious and dull! i really like the blurb for it though so will give it a go! Grin

Levantine · 11/08/2013 10:32

I can't fine the lionel shrivel one anywhere. Do you mean the one about her big brother?

CoteDAzur · 11/08/2013 10:20

hackmum - I just bought Spies at the Kindle sale. Thank you for the recommendation Smile

Yes and the Amazon deals as well. I got a free voucher to buy a book for a pound. Well a couple but I didn't want one of the deals.

Hackmum I was looking at Spies but couldn't make up my mind thank you for making it up for me

I got that link via email
are you subscribed to daily email for kindle offers?

hackmum · 10/08/2013 21:03

Just been through again - the books are in an entirely random order, aren't they? Bought a biography of Nancy Mitford on the basis that for 99p, you can't go wrong.

If anyone's looking for a recommendation, one of the books on there is Spies by Michael Frayn, which is a wonderful read. One of my favourites from the past 10 years.

hackmum · 10/08/2013 20:58

Thanks for the tip. Bought the Lionel Shriver and have just finished it.

"Mind you, I was amazed at the poor quality of the Kindle version of another of Mantel's books, Beyond Black, which was crammed with scanning errors. It was clear that the e-version hadn't been proofread. I got my money back."

I've had this problem too, with a few books. It was particularly noticeable in that Julian Barnes one that won the Booker, with the letters rn appearing as m, or vice versa, and the letter l being mixed up with 1.

Yes it was on the Kindle discussion forum. I always like to have a look because the people on it are very quick to point out any price drops etc.

i didn't get an email either and the link on their landing page isn't terribly evident

it was mumsnet pointed me in the direction of the sale

NadiaWadia · 08/08/2013 15:10

Oh right, do you mean the discussion forum on Amazon?

You would think they would want to publicize it by sending out e-mails, though, I'm sure they used to, can remember getting one about January sale etc.

No Nadia I didn't but I always check the discussion forum and it was posted on there that it had started. So I just thought people on here would want to know

minsmum, did you get an e-mail from Amazon about this? Because I didn't get one, even though I'm signed up to Deal of the Day.

Thanks, anyway, if not for you I wouldn't have known. Although now the Lionel Shriver one seems to be gone Sad
