I know I've been hogging the boards the last few days, but I don't care :P Just been curious on other peoples opinions on things.

I didn't know where to put this, so I apologise if it's in the wrong category.

I was wondering what everyones favourite Urban Legend/Cautionary Tale was. I have been fascinated in them for pretty much forever, due to so many meanings and of course expressing the nations fears.

So what are your favourites? Feel free to share the UL with us! :)

Whatthe.....

Why doesn't he say something about it?? Did it appear onscreen after he posted it or something?

Once I got up the nerve to look at the damn thing again, it doesn't look like a resusi-Annie, they usually have blonde hair I think.

Fuck me it's creepy! And that the guy that has posted all the photos didn't even comment on it!

JodieHarsh · 14/08/2012 13:21

FFS Little BarnOwl what the FUCK IS THAT?!

Is it one of those Resusci-Annie dolls or something?

LittleBarnOwl · 14/08/2012 13:16

Was browsing around one of the links from this thread and found this
www.abandoned-britain.com/PP/ebbas/2.html
It's the 3rd photo down..... I nearly fainted!

Creepy Shock

Moominsarescary · 14/08/2012 12:50

He said they heard screaming from parts of the building that were locked and no longer in use, staff saw the ghosts of patients wandering the halls and grounds.

Dr Duncan Macmillan was in charge from the early 40s till the late 60s and he believed in open wards so the patients were able to move around quite freely during this time, although when the maintenance guy I knew worked there it was secure again so it wasn't current patients they were seeing.

Through the years it was added to extensively and floor levels changed, so people reported seeing ghosts with no legs walking around where the floors had been made higher.

Banging, dragging and screams were heard in the basement where all the old equipment such as chairs people used to be strapped to were kept

They've built apartments on part of the grounds but there are still secure forensic and acute wards in a new building at the far end of the grounds

BlackOutTheSun · 14/08/2012 12:25

Ooh Moomins share the stories Grin

whatkungfuthat · 14/08/2012 12:13

Moomin we have one at the end of our road. Its a housing estate now.

Moominsarescary · 14/08/2012 11:51

Most asylums have spooky story's attached, we have one at the end if our road. I trained as a mental health nurse and its used as offices and as a training centre. It's a really spooky place.

I k ow someone who worked there before it closed and all the patients were moved and he said some weird things happened there.

SausageSmuggler · 14/08/2012 08:51

There's a whole horror section on www.cracked.com I waste a lot of time on that website. Love it.

SausageSmuggler · 14/08/2012 08:49

I ended up having difficulty sleeping last night thinking about some of the disturbing stuff that's out there. Thanks this thread Hmm. I read a review of a Serbian Film ages ago and it made me feel sick, I think more the fact that child sexual abuse is a very real and horrifying thing. DS was just a teeny newborn too so made it seem worse somehow.

But back on topic. Google Hellingly Asylum, I kind of want to visit even though I know I'd be bricking it the whole time!

BertieBotts · 13/08/2012 23:13

I guess that it must exist somewhere... isn't that internet rule 288 or something Grin if you can conceive of it, there is porn of it on the internet. People are into some weird shit. But it would have to be really well hidden, wouldn't it? Would be a pretty handy link for the police if someone videoed a murder Confused and we all know that awful stuff exists in cyberspace if people know where to look :( Still, I would think it would be extremely rare, just the logistics of it must be pretty difficult.

whatkungfuthat · 13/08/2012 23:00

This all sounds much worse than my screamer link!

BlackOutTheSun · 13/08/2012 22:50

Is snuff really an urban myth? What about that porn star that murdered another man and posted the killing on the internet?

Tangointhenight · 13/08/2012 22:31

bertie that's awful!! That link was interesting, that snuff movies are perhaps just an urban legend!

I think more people are interested in the macabre now that the Internet has made it accessible, but they always have been I guess that's why those travelling circuses were so popular.

But it's the taboo stuff that is dangerous IMO, that serbian film is something I would never ever want to see, in a million billion years.

BertieBotts · 13/08/2012 22:20

I found this re snuff films?

www.csicop.org/si/show/snuff_film_the_making_of_an_urban_legend/

There's a really freaky DVD we get traded in at work from time to time, called Faces of Death 3. It apparently shows people's faces as they die, not actors, but real people Confused

Just... why? Unless it IS for sexual kicks and then why the fuck is it legal? And it's the third one! Shock

BlueSuedeStiletto · 13/08/2012 22:20

Oh my!

I don't really want to look. But I kind of do. Ick.

I hate really gory violent films. They're not scary, just horrid. There's no need for that. I love freaking myself out with supernatural stuff though.

Tangointhenight · 13/08/2012 22:17

Blue it's about snuff, child rape and necrophilia.

It's worse than that but I don't want to say anymore it's too awful, wiki have an article on it.

Disgusting and depraved.

BlueSuedeStiletto · 13/08/2012 22:11

I'm going to regret asking this, but I'm a bit scared to google... What's Serbian Film? Confused

BlackOutTheSun · 13/08/2012 22:07

Worst film I've seen is 9mm i think its called

Agree on the snuff, scary sick shit!

topknob · 13/08/2012 22:07

I can only assume the writers are very sick indeed. Or depraved as you all say. Vile !

Tangointhenight · 13/08/2012 22:04

It's the stuff of nightmares Bertie the hostel really freaked me out too, anything with reference to snuff does because the scary thing is this stuff actually happens out there.
