700 fabulous pages though!

dinkystinky · 25/11/2011 10:18

I agree the last one was definitely the best of the set

700 pages! What is it Wolf Hall or The Long Road Home???? Shock

swampster · 25/11/2011 10:12

Dinky, I cried when I finished the last one knowing that there would be no more! But lots of people think it is absolutely the worst book ever.

I move to ban musttidyup from the clun for sending a 700-page tome. Shock

dinkystinky · 25/11/2011 09:51

Blimey Swampster - that sounds like quite some tome you're reading??? You have till end of November to finish it and send on - but you can always arrange a longer sending period with your sendee if you like and they are willing as we're not sending on after that again till 25 January. Have you enjoyed the first 5million pages?

I had Swampy's book this time round - have read it before but stands up to a re-read. I still feel its the weakest one of the series, lots of expositionary work I think which comes into its own later, and some bits make rather uncomfortable reading (especially for the vivid of imagination) but its an interesting idea for a book and on the whole well executed.

swampster · 24/11/2011 21:41

Hahahahaahahah [hysterical laughter] I still have several hundred pages to plough through.

dinkystinky · 24/11/2011 15:17

Wotcha fellow clun members - just a reminder TOMORROW is the day to report in on your book you've read. Then you all send the book on to your sendee by the end of the month.

As 25 December appears to be a fairly busy day for some reason for most of the western hemisphere I have made an executive decision as fat controller of the clun that we will have until 25 January to read the book sent on to us this time round. Hopefully will give even the most dedicated xmas party fiend time to read the book by the our merry clun carousel spins round again.

acsec · 21/11/2011 20:45

I'm nearly done with the book I'm reading - can't recall whose it is off the top of my head, also enjoying!

kiwijesta · 21/11/2011 07:43

Oh yay, that makes me happy. As a rational adult i know we don't all have the same tastes, but still... Grin

musttidyupmusttidyup · 19/11/2011 21:50

I have finished Kiwijester's book and really really enjoyed it. Thanks Kiwi.

dinkystinky · 16/11/2011 11:45

Tilly - how funny that the film was on last night! I too adore John Cusack but agree the book is tonnes better.

tillyfernackerpants · 16/11/2011 11:14

rufus, I loved dinky's book, I took it on holiday with me & dh was moaning that I was constantly reading it!! The film of it was on last night, but imo it doesn't really translate well to film (despite the lovely John Cusack being in it!!)

Have started my book, quite gripping so far.

And I think I may have an idea of what Musttidyup's book is!!

rufussewell · 16/11/2011 10:48

Glad it's got to you ok, Kiwi!
I received my book, DinkyStinky's, the other day - it's one I've been meaning to read for a long time, so looking forward to starting it, and will do so today!!

kiwijesta · 16/11/2011 10:31

Got my book thanks Rufus, and its by a Kiwi! Grin and it's been on my to read list for a while so even better!

acsec · 15/11/2011 20:34

Afternoons, I agree that some of the middle was a bit dull but I am going to read the other 2 in the trilogy as I need to know what happens!

swampster · 15/11/2011 12:27

FINALLY posted! Sorry, ESP.

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons · 15/11/2011 09:56

Hmm i really struggled with it acsec! I really enjoyed it to start with, got about halfway through and found it really dragged. Got better towards the end again though, so Im glad I stuck with it but, tbh, it could be half the size and still be a fantastic book! IMO of course!

acsec · 14/11/2011 22:01

I'm halfway through my book, it's very funny!

Swampy, is it Musttidyup's book you've got? It's really good, start it and you'll whizz through it!

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons · 14/11/2011 08:42

Yeah, sorry for the delay in posting, Swampy. It took me a while to get through that one!

swampster · 13/11/2011 21:46

I've got my book now - it is soooooooo HUGE I'm too afraid to open it. I still have to locate my post office so I can send the one I just finished off. Blush

dinkystinky · 13/11/2011 18:20

Hope the move went smoothly Piebald and you've got your book now. Just checking everyone has their books now - if you dont shout and PM the person that's meant to be sending to you.

piebald · 07/11/2011 19:25

kiwijesta · 07/11/2011 18:23

I've not got my book yet Sad but I'm sure Rufus is on to it! I'm also a quick reader so not stressed yet.

dinkystinky · 07/11/2011 09:18

Just checking everyone has received the book they're meant to this time round (or posted it by now).

Have received Swampy's book I think - have read it previously so this month I am interspersing reading it with my birthday present from my DH, the new PD James set at Pemberley -is making for a most amusing compare and contrast Grin

musttidyupmusttidyup · 06/11/2011 22:02

Does anyone have the DVD of kiwi's book? I'm really enjoying it and will want to see the DVD after but won't buy if I can shamelessly borrow from someone else......

Haribojoe · 05/11/2011 18:23

Big apologies for not posting my book yet, have got it all packaged and ready to go but the week has run away with me. Will get it in the post box tomorro, sorry Blush
