I'M GOING TO SEE ROBERT PATTINSON ON TUESDAY!!!!!!

Honeymum · 30/04/2011 17:48

Another vote for the TSA! I lurked for the longest time, on and off, and in the meantime slowly got sucked into to daily Robporn googling sessions, to my shame, and twilight fanfiction. It sounds wierd. It is wierd and geeky and unbecoming to a forty-something like myself but a lot of the writing is just amazing and unbelievably addictive. Far, far superior to the source material.

Some of the TSA write too (I won't out them here, that's up to them) and bloody good they are too. It's all about the giggles and the smut but there's some busy ladeez knocking out some fabulous stories as well. And they do love fresh blood Grin!

All in all, marvellous fun and new friends - what's not to like? Smile

TheMysticMasseuse · 30/04/2011 16:53

YES please come over to TSA! the beauty of it, you see, is you don't have to decide between Edward and Eric- you can have them both! We're totally equally opportunity fangirls, honest :)

I know it can all be a bit daunting because we have been going for 16 months a while, but we will welcome you with open arms, seduce you with excellent Rob pics and point you in the direction of some excellent fanfiction wchih will fuel your addiction while broadening your cliterary horizons :)

on a slightly more serious note I am completely bemused at the fact I'm a twilight fan. I've always been a big reader of serious books, and twilight is, in all honesty, not very good literature. and there are far better vampire sagas out there. But i think Rob himself (I know, humour me, i'm pathetic) put it best when he said in an interview that people just like to do Twilight-related things together. IN my case that's absolutely true, i love the sense of community twilight has created, both here and in the fanfiction world.

weimy · 30/04/2011 15:04

saggy My hub doesn't read books either and is an intelligent bloke but doesn't have any imagination so to speak, I can't get my head around it Confused

I loved the series, and want to read True Blood over the summer.

evilgiraffe · 30/04/2011 14:00

Just post a few times, Edward, we do make an effort to explain the madness if we know people are lurking! You will work it out in no time at all - generally it's just an awful lot of silliness... And smut. Always the smut

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 30/04/2011 13:05

evilgiraffe

i tried the TSA threads a while back and found it really hard to catch up [thick emoticon] think just cause they've been going a long time a lot of stuff people were talking about went straight over my head.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 30/04/2011 13:00

strangly my DH quite likes the movies and would probably sulk if i went without him lol

would obviously never admit that in public though Grin

skgnome · 30/04/2011 11:08

They are so cheesy, badly written, the message is horrible, and the movies are so lame...

But.... I love them!

(I'm 33)

and EdwardorEricCantDecide - baby cinema, that's how I'm watching this one (by the way DH is so happy he won't be dragged, and I won't have to explain why is really awesome, so win-win)

evilgiraffe · 30/04/2011 11:01

Seriously, all of you who have found yourselves strangely addicted to Twilight and/or Robert Pattinson, do come on over to the TSA threads where you will find your true home amongst like-minded individuals. We giggle, perv, write our own stories, and generally have a good time. All welcomed, even those who think they might be Team Jacob Grin

Mrsfluff · 30/04/2011 00:01

I loved them, as did my 10yr old DD. The True Blood books are ace as well.

evilgiraffe · 29/04/2011 23:55

Obsessed, you say? Come on over to the TSA threads, we will welcome you with open arms!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 29/04/2011 22:14

I can't wait for the next movie, but DC2 is due 4weeks before it comes out I'll be BFing u think I can take baby to cinema in a sling?

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 29/04/2011 22:09

Not just fiction, she just isnt a big reader. Very clever, excellent grades, just doesnt read for pleasure. disappointed Smile

CestTout · 29/04/2011 22:06

25- love them. Waiting for next film in Nov!

weimy · 29/04/2011 21:58

do you mean fiction is lost on her?

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 29/04/2011 21:44

Nah, DD is not likely to want to read them, she is very academic, but books are lost on her. And dont worry, we discuss EVERYTHING! Grin

Maud2011 · 29/04/2011 20:40

Saggyoldclothcatpuss I sympathise with your opinion and your concern re. the messages Twilight sends but please don't stop your DD from reading them... if you ban them, I'm almost certain she WILL read them, she'll just chuck them under the duvet and pretend to be reading something she thinks you'll approve of when she hears your feet on the stairs! If she reads them with your knowledge and (however reluctant) consent then at least you can discuss them with her and explain why you find them objectionable.

Francesca123 · 29/04/2011 16:07

hi i'm new here but just seen this thread i'm 29 and have just read all the twilight books, i was totally hooked on them - Team Edward

AyeRobot · 29/04/2011 16:03

Lessons from Twilight

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 29/04/2011 16:00

I would like to read a version where they all burst into flames and disappear!

anonymosity · 29/04/2011 04:13

you are not alone at all.
The biggest audiences for the books and films fall into two categories

  1. girls around 15 yrs old
  2. women around 38+ yrs old.

I am also in category 2 - and I did the same, but equally as I became more familiar with the material, became more aware of its limitations.

I would like to read a version where Bella chooses Jacob and life over death.

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 28/04/2011 23:31

THEY ARE ABSOLUTE, LOAD OF BADLY WRITTEN, PLOT DEFICIENT, TEDIOUS, DRIVEL!...

Sorry, was I shouting?...
Just about every vampire book I have ever read is better than these. And as for the messages it gives, my DD will NEVER be reading these books! EVER!
