Morte d'A is bit of curate's egg - lots of "and then X dehorsed Y, and then Z rehorsed Y, and then Z dehorsed B, and then ..." but also the utter utter surrealism of the Questing Beast. Loads of shenanigans I hadn't a clue about, given how the stories got filtered by Tennyson etc.

Small Island by Andrea Levy. Only 70 pages in but think it is excellent so far. Just wish I had a couple of clear days to do nothing but read.

The Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys and THe Insider by Piers Morgan.
They're making a film of Notes on a Scandal, can't remember who's in it but I remember thinking they're miles away from my mental picture of the characters.

EH Nesbit's The Treasure-Seekers, latest Granta, an Agatha Christie compendium that appeared from somewhere, Morte d'Arthur (in modernised spelling, which feels weird) and an elderly LRB. Whichever first slides off the bedside pile.

Diplodocus, I wish I could do serious informative books nowadays - I cheat by reading the LRB essays.
