but don't read it if your dc is in hospital, I read that and the Memory keepers daughter (about someone giving away their daughter who had Downs Syndrome)
I don't know what got into my head!!

WannabeNigella · 18/11/2010 15:17

Handle with Care is unputdownable imo.

Kitty86 · 18/11/2010 15:04

Oh and sorry I meant to say i also loved We Need To Talk About Kevin

Kitty86 · 18/11/2010 15:03

I also read My Sisters Keeper - Didnt love it until the last few chapters. The ends made it a good book.

Bucharest · 18/11/2010 15:00

My Sister's Keeper was excellent.

15 minutes was good, but not as good as We Need to talk about Kevin.

The rest are interchangeable, highly readable rubbish. Grin

I've read them all. It's like comfort food reading almost. Oh! I'm on page 350....any second now, the twist in the tale!

Kitty86 · 18/11/2010 15:00

yes i think it is! - green cover? And no I cant get into it either! I must have started to read it 5 times now

vintageteacups · 18/11/2010 14:57

kitty is it Second Glance? I started but just couldn't get into it so have left it for now. As it gets nearer to xmas, I find it hard to concentrate on a book; I'm always busily dipping into cooking mags and gift catalogues!

freefruit · 18/11/2010 12:44

I read Handle with care when my dc was seriously ill in hospital it was not a good idea.

My sisters keeper is looking at me waiting for me to pick it up and read it!!!

I figured she'd had something medical go on behind the scenes

Kitty86 · 18/11/2010 12:35

im reading one now about a man whos wife/girlfriend dies and then he cant die - dont know what its called

rookiemater · 17/11/2010 22:09

Humpbacked Whale, written before she was famous and only one IMHO that doesn't follow the now hackneyed formulaic plot that she insists on having in every single blinkin novel.

Funkychunkymunky · 17/11/2010 22:08

Suicide Pact.

KT1324 · 17/11/2010 22:08

change of heart was fantastic

vintageteacups · 17/11/2010 21:54

Plain Truth - her research was extremely accurate (as are so many of her books).

Picture Perfect was fab too.

ghoulishglendawhingesagain · 13/11/2010 22:35

Plain Truth quite good. But after 2 or 3 they just made me annoyed, the way she tries so blatantly to manipulate the reader/tug on the heart strings. Writing pretty poor too.

I did enjoy my sisters keeper though, and The Pact. I am not going to bother with any more though, too samey.

jamaisjedors · 12/11/2010 16:40

oops sorry 5foot5 Blush

jamaisjedors · 12/11/2010 16:39

god salem falls was terrible drivel. Don not read that one.

misdee · 08/11/2010 19:37

Plain Truth also good.

but Handle with Care is a real tear-jerker.

misdee · 08/11/2010 19:35

Change of Heart

i shouldnt have read it so soon aftetr dh transplant, but am glad i did.

5Foot5 · 08/11/2010 19:27

I have only recently discovered her books and so far read three and am half way through my fourth (Vanishing Acts). They do seem a little formulaic but I mostly enjoy them.

I think the one I have enjoyed best so far is Salem Falls

tiredemma · 07/11/2010 21:20

my sisters keeper my fave
plain truth second
salem falls next
nineteen mins thereafter....

Spinaroo · 07/11/2010 18:17

Loved my sister's keeper- its my fave.

Go for Vanishing acts next.
Then
Salem Falls
19 minutes
The Pact
Mercy

The Tenth circle- not so much

TheFoosa · 07/11/2010 18:13

19 minutes

AnnVeronica · 07/11/2010 11:58

Most of them are crapola, but I actually really like Plain Truth.

RoseMortmain · 06/11/2010 22:55

Shay Bourne is in Change of Heart, there's also a couple of characters from Keeping Faith who make a brief appearance in it.

I agree that once you've read more than one or two then you've read them all.

She's deviated slightly from the prescribed plot line with Picture Perfect and Second Glance but all the rest are almost identical with crap 'Year-6=story-writing' standard endings. She seems to churn them out far too quickly now and it doesn't improve fairly poor writing anyway. I hate the way she forces you to know what the characters are thinking/feeling/motivated by. I'd rather think about some of that for myself.

If you like human interest stories then Anita Shreve or Anne tyler are much better writers.

scottishmummy · 06/11/2010 22:23

got it free with a mag 10th circle.read it and then felt sullied
