Is 40 too old to start gaming again?

Never too late to play games! I'm 41 and I'm still loving FFXIV adventures, LoL/.

Never too old. I'm not a massive gamer in general but have been hooked on Sims Mobile ever since lockdown. I'm 56.

Theme hospital! I used to love the queueing Elvises! 🤭 43 here, gamer since my teen years and still going strong. DH and both our boys game instead of TV, not at the cost of life and other pleasures but we are geeks and happy!

Not my cup of tea at all but I understand it’s good for the older brain.

I'm 55 and have recently played Skyrim, Elder Scrolls Online, No Man's Sky, Civ, Slay the Spire, Dorfromantik and quite a few more. My Steam library probably runs to hundreds of titles. I don't chat though and would not enjoy it!

I tried getting into it again a couple months ago. For me it wasnt the same anymore. I used to always meet people online like that and would develop actual friendships and meet some of them as well.
But now when i played again it just really shows, that lots of players are younger and it just wasnt the same. People are rude to each other in group settings and it was just a weird vibe. I got bored of it really quickly.
No harm in trying if you want to, but i wouldnt buy a console just for that in case you discover youve outgrown it.

I just bought the PlayStation thing that lets you play handheld at home. I can't see why anyone else would want this apart from parents who don't want their DC to see their gaming on the big screen. I recommend it!

My 65 year old Mum plays The Sims and I bought a new Alienware laptop this year so it could run more powerful games. Latest is F1 Manager.

I honestly think gaming is our generation's knitting or Airfix model building! Something you can do in the evening to relax.

Also I went on a hen party, we got chatting to guys from a stag do; again aged 30s / 40s from all over the uk; they'd all met online playing a game.

My 2 male Neighbours are gamers. Age mid 30s/ 40s with a huge screen and Bluetooth headphones, their house is always silent with the blackout curtains drawn & they spend large amounts of time gaming, one is possibly a healthcare worker but the other seems to work in tech for a career.
One of them has a covetable fast car with a gaming related registration number. They have cameras outside everywhere & seem to be really well off.
Nice enough guys if a little moody at times.

My point is you can be a gamer at any age and even make serious money.

40 in December, just bought myself a ps4. Levelling up faster than ds on fortnite 😂

I bet the teens in MMOs would be horrified to know how many of us are ancient in RL 🤣

I'm 41 and play games, but don't chat. Started again when my dd got into super Mario, animal crossing and fortnite etc and we would play together. Now she doesn't want to play anymore but I still do 😄 Finished Hogwarts legacy, a few of the resident evils for nostaliga and now started on read dead redemption 2 (which is amazing and makes HP legacy look kind of limited tbh). Go for it!

46 and play swtor, currently crawling through baldurs gate 3 with DH.

They will need to prise that ps5 controller out of my cold dead hands.

Well I'm 47 and never really stopped. If you enjoyed theam Hospital, try Two point hospital it's great. Have enjoyed Diablo series as well and we have a switch which my son just bought me the old sonic games for my birthday, so he ovously doesn't think I'm to old either 😀

Also you would love Two Point Hospital which is available on Steam on PC and on consoles.

Not at all. I never stopped but my mum started gaming in her 50s with a Nintendo DS initially and it was a great hobby for her.

43 here and a clear sign that pmt is approaching is my sudden urge to play Sims 4. It's my.once a month hobby. Hate thr fact that the game platform tells you how many hours you've spent on it though. 5k at last look. I can't help thinking I'll want those hours back when I'm really old!

59 and am addicted to playing hogwarts legacy on PS5.

Not sure if it is a good thing or not. It eats free time, and has given me carpal tunnel... I feel I am getting too old! But I bought a wrist brace and am carrying on... it is just good fun.

Absolutely buy that console! Me and DP are big gamers (we don't spend too much time gaming, we do balance it, but we love it when we can). We have PS2, 4, 5, Wii, Switch, PC and tablets, and have different games for each of them. We don't like playing the same games, so when we decide to have a gaming evening he goes upstairs and I stay in the living room. It's brilliant! There's no age limit on having fun!
