New thread. No routes where I am. We're going to be at Pokémon Go Fest on 6 August. V excited.

Damn, I still have 83 to go. Although in fairness I just assumed it would be too hard and didn't put much effort into it. I'm setting myself a target of 2 a day to get there and 1 raid a day as well.

But I need to start focussing on my field researches. I deleted several I knew I wouldn't do, and am spending a bit of time making sure I do them.

Tarkan · 21/09/2023 02:16

Just completed the excellent throws!

Still only on one raid. I'm out tomorrow for my Covid and flu jags so hopefully the weather is nicer than today so I can go out playing for a bit.

I also have a brand new phone so I can play for more than a couple of hours at a time which is going to make all the difference to me too. Grin

Oh lol, I can see how that could be misleading! Lovely as I'm sure cornishgem is, no, DH is not a mumsnetter. Yet, anyway... I managed to infect him with pogo, perhaps MN is next😈

porridgeisbae · 20/09/2023 14:41

Where are you approximately based @CornishGem1975 ? So jealous.

@thirdfiddle I must've been half asleep lol, when you said 'Cornishgem, DH' I read it as meaning like 'Cornishgem (DH)' Grin

CornishGem1975 · 20/09/2023 10:05

Hmm I'm struggling to find routes so can't do them often but I guess I'll keep trying!

thirdfiddle · 19/09/2023 23:21

Not me porridge, cornishgem1975 posted a couple of entries up thread. You're making me want to go to cornwall now though :)

porridgeisbae · 19/09/2023 23:09

@thirdfiddle Ooh are you in Cornwall? I've played PoGo in Tintagel/Boscastle etc and Bude/Widemouth bay on hols.

Don't cancel your route- who knows, there might end up being two. Smile

thirdfiddle · 19/09/2023 22:30

Yay for jangmo-o steadyon👏

thirdfiddle · 19/09/2023 22:28

Cornishgem, DH found his first this week - keep looking! Are you noticing the route-special Pokémon spawns? The Pokémon are directly on the route, the cells off to one side or other so keep looking around. On my very short routes I usually spot a route spawn or a cell but rarely both, and often near the end of my route. (It may be there is a higher number and I'm just missing a lot tho!)

I'm happy that someone has created a route that's nearly the same as the one I had stuck in limbo. Can I cancel mine from the approval queue somehow?

ISaySteadyOn · 19/09/2023 21:52

Nothing. They are really hard to find. If you walk along a route and you see a sparkle like when PoGo has a glitch and all the Pokémon look like balls of light, that's a cell. Basically, tap on anything sparkly.

I cannot find a Zygarde cell for the life of me. What am I doing wrong?

ISaySteadyOn · 19/09/2023 21:19

I have had a good day. Loads of excellent throws plus I hatched a 4 star Jangmo-o which was nice .

Not sure if anyone wants the aeroplane mode trick for x throws in a row task; it’s a bit of a cheat, but not a massive one, more of a workaround. Anyway, for those interested…

Tap on the mon, select berry and ball type, but don’t throw.
Put your phone into aeroplane mode.
Make the throw.
If the throw is great/excellent/what the task needs, turn aeroplane mode off and go back into the game.
If the throw isn’t what you need, close the game, then turn off aeroplane mode, and reopen the game.

That's a fantastic way round it! I'm terrible at making good throws on demand- thanks .

In a row! I think just the fact of aiming for it will majorly put me off. I usually have a good hit rate, but even 5 nice in a row I screw up. 5 excellent in a row can wait till a wailmer spotlight hour or something! It'll be a while anyway, only L46 so far. Spotlight hours/community days can be quite good for excellents too as you can practice on the same pokemon till you get the knack of it. I got loads on the charmander day.

Tarkan · 18/09/2023 13:42

In a row is my downfall. I find a lot of legendaries are easier to get excellent throws on so I eventually get the in a row ones after a few of those.

gillybean2 · 18/09/2023 13:06

All these excellent throws will be good practise for the level 50 challenge for those still working your way there. 5 excellent throws in a row was bloody frustrating quite tricky…

Tarkan · 18/09/2023 12:45

I've had another 10 excellent throws since this morning. It's a mixture of nanab berries, curveballs, patience and luck for me really.

The Pokémon I've had excellent throws on today have been Eevee, Hitmontop, Pikachu, Pidgey, Deerling x 2, Smeargle, Bounsweet and Cubchoo x 2 so a whole range. I even managed one on a Scatterbug the other day.

PickAChew · 18/09/2023 12:38

It's the raids that are going slowly for me, too. I already have burn drive genesect so won't be using remote passes on that one! I went out with DS1 twice, last week, when the bonuses were really motivating, and the raids were few and far between. The ready button is useful, though - so long as I have both my main and alt account open, I can make use of it if I land on a raid at a bus stop! (Annoying that you can't use it if raiding solo, even for 1 star raids)

The piggy one is the easiest excellent in the current pool I think. Raids is the one I have left too, saving some premium passes for suicune/entei/raikou so that should catch me up.

That's what I was thinking - I don't really want to use mine on Genesect and nothing else is grabbing much.

Of the current pokémons spawning I'd say Girafarig, Hitmontop and for some reason Sprigatito have been the most reliable for excellent throws, although I ran into a couple of wild Blisseys early on and managed to get about a dozen in between the two before they ran away. I've seen a few Mr Mimes in the last couple of days too.

gillybean2 · 18/09/2023 10:10

I’m all done apart from the raids. Only using my free passes for those so at one a day I should make it. Have temporarily moved out of home due to building works so having to actively go find raids now where we are staying.

Although I live very rurally, at home I live between two gyms and have 4 more within a 2min drive (thanks to ds who submits loads or ingress portals) so can usually find a raid when it suits me. Not used to having to actively go out to spin for items either, usually just do that for gifts and let the go plus+ pick up items by auto spinning the home gyms. Have 500 spaces in my bag currently when I’m generally struggling with a full bag.

For those struggling with excellent throws there’s usually at least one Pokemon that’s easier to land an excellent on whatever the current pool is. Work out which it is for you and focus on catching that. It was furfou when it first came out. Not sure what it is right now as I’m back to using the autocatcher…

SocksAndTheCity · 18/09/2023 08:44

I got the excellent throws done fairly quickly, but the sixty raids are going to be a pain because I don't have time to get out that much and the remote raid passes are too expensive for me now. I think I've done about a quarter of them plus I have eight more eggs to hatch and thirty or so more Field Researches to do.

I'll do it OK, but I think I'll need to set an afternoon or two aside to do multiple raids and just use up some premium passes.

eurochick · 18/09/2023 08:43

I'm struggling with raids too. There are none near where I live and when I am in the London office where there are plenty, I am usually to busy to pop out and do them. I'm on track with everything else though.
