Any players on here?

I’ve never played before but me and my 11yr old wandered in to the local shop today out of interest!

We were given a figure from the 40,000 game and invited back next week for a free painting and game session!

We’re excited but no absolutely zero about it!

My husband thinks it’s a sure fire way of wasting money but I think it might be good for DS. Get him off his PC and something we could do together

It's a money pit, but not a waste of money. After all, what's the difference (say) between buying 6 PS4 games at £40+ each a year, and spending £250+ on Warhammer Models?

Like any hobby, you can spend as much or as little as you want. There's always a second hand market for the models.

Not me but my husband does it. It certainly gets him off his computer - his other hobby! I don't like it personally and think it's too expensive, but glad he has an in interest in something. It's a good way of socialising aswell. Hubby goes to a club and his mates all do it too.

I used to play it in the 1990s - great to hear it's still thriving! No up to date knowledge, but I hope this is the start of a fulfilling hobby for your DS.

My son manages the Warhammer shop in Carmarthen. He started with painting the figures when he was about 10 and getting the occasional magazines.
He loves introducing younger people to it and his son of 7 has started painting small things. Unfortunately there's no games going on in store, that's why they're doing the one to ones.
I think it's a lovely thing for you to do together and the upside is that he'll never be short of ideas for Christmas and birthday presents!
