Fortnite is evil

I have been changed over £400 from my son playing Fortnite. Multiple purchases. If you Google it Fortnite has things you purchase without authorization or consent. It just automatically comes out of your account. £400 later, switch is in the bin and a servere telling off.

This is such a legal con.

Can't believe they can get away with this.

Bank were pretty useless, and can not for the life of me find a telephone number for Nintendo.

If you are thinking of letting your children play Fortnite be warned.

My dd did this on Minecraft on xbox. They were so nice about it and refunded the money. It was out fault for leaving the card on there not password protected. We learned our lesson now everything needs 2 step verification 1st even free games. It's a pain but better than the alternative. Mabye have a talk with them and explain that it was real money they might not have known.

Never leave a card registered with any device that an unsupervised child has access to. Fortnite is brilliant if played responsibly and there's no reason to delete it or bin the device. Accept it's down to you.

Surely it’s the child’s fault and not fornite, I have a 9 year old with asd and even he would never buy anything without asking and never has.

We have Fortnite in our house. I’ve got password protection on purchases.

I’m afraid you need to take responsibility. And it’s ironic throwing a switch in the bin, what a waste of money, in response to wasting money on a game.

Why did you leave your card details on the device? Its madness that parents do this. Sadly it's not epics fault, it's yours

Sorry but at 8 he has no concept of what charging a card for in game purchases actually means. Card should not of been left on account. Please get his device out of the bin.

This happened to us with Amazon. They refunded the lot and were extremely helpful. If you email Nintendo, they might do the same. DS was so mortified he took himself off to bed. I felt it was 100% my fault and I told DS that. It was on a kids kindle and I just didn't know they could purchase stuff in a game. I say stuff, it was bags of virtual coins etc. Lesson learned. Hope you get it back. And yes, Fortnite is evil. Mine are allowed on it when they are 21.

The first time you got an email notification was the time you should have removed your card details from the device. Your boy is only 8 years old - this is completely your responsibility. A severe telling off and throwing the Switch in the bin is a total over reaction on your part.

My son is 8. I did get email notifications, but not for every transaction. But it's a bit late by then. Not sure if it is through Google play as it is through Nintendo switch. They don't really understand virtual money at that age.

Why is the switch in the bin?

How old is your son? If you call or email the Google play customer services then they often refund money if your son story is good enough (and the child is young and doesn't know better)

I think you can contact Fortnite/the app and tell them it was unauthorized and your child did it. See what they. No point binning the switch...sell it?
