Games you can sink a few hundred hours into?

I'm on the shielding list so I'm not able to go out for a long time yet, and it's my birthday next month (a big one). My family want to get me some games so I have something to stay busy with over the next few months. I'm not sure what to ask for though, and I want games that will last a long time as I can't afford to buy any more.

What titles have people been able to play for a very long time without getting bored of them?

I was given Animal Crossing as an early present and I'm really enjoying it so far. I have a switch and a PS4.

Games I really loved/spent a lot of time on:

Skyrim, Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War, Prison Architect, Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Diablo 3, Pokemon lets go/pokemon sword, harvest moon, luigi's mansion, ratchet and clank, spyro trilogy, minecraft.

Are there any games like the above that I can play for 100+ hours that you'd recommend?

I really liked AC Odyssey. It was much more fun than Origins (which was beautiful but felt a bit padded out).

Subnautica could be a good shout actually. It doesn't look like much when you read about it online but it is amazing if you love exploration. I think I got 90 hours out of it...some people do less, some more...so you can explore at your own speed.

Bioshock, Sekiro, Persona 5, Monster Hunter World, Nier Automata, Death Stranding? Just throwing out some names here. Spiderman, Last of Us, Mass Effect are great too but a little shorter.

Nier has loads of different endings in it so there's a lot of replayability there.

/r/patientgamers would be a great place to ask too.

I would give Red Dead 2 a try for sure, it's a great story and I fell in love with Arthur.

The Witcher 3 is great. Took me a few hours to get into it then I ended up loving it. Some of it is very very violent and there's lots of swearing, but the voice acting is really good and its HUGE

Witcher 3 added to the list (checking out videos/trailers of each game mentioned)

Red Dead Redemption i'm 50/50 on - not usually into games with guns but I did enjoy GTA growing up.

Planet Zoo is amazing but not switch/ps4 - played it at my cousins house and had a blast but I can't visit now. Oxygen not included same.

I've been looking through the assassins creed games as I do like those, leaning towards Odyssey as that one seems to be massive compared to the rest. I already finished 1/2 and black flag.

Also apparently you can sink hours into Civ 6 on the Switch! Haven't played it myself though.

The Long Dark is outstanding if you like survival games and decent graphics, not finished yet but a fair bit of story to play through.

The Witcher 3. I think it's cheap enough on PS4 - it's on Switch too and while the graphics are not the best (and you'll pay the usual Nintendo sky high prices) it runs very well.

Assassin's Creed Rebel Collection on Switch is also a possibility. Great value as you get 2 games in 1 and also runs great.

Red Dead Redemption 2? You'd certainly get hours out of it but you might get bored during it.

Dragon Quest XI would be a good option too.

Fire Emblem 3 houses on the switch. Has 4 different pathways in it (which all unlock different parts of the story). The monastery can grate though.

The Witcher 3? Looooved it on Xbox and I think it's on switch. Open worldy, but more of a focussed story line than some. Great, very involved sidequests.

Also:
Planet Zoo (or go old school and play zoo/rollercoaster tycoon).
Oxygen Not Included might also interest you but it’s a bit more of a complex sim/management/builder.

Rimworld. Don’t be put off by the graphics. If you liked Prison Architect then I bet you’d like Rimworld.

I did try stardew valley but I couldn't get into it, I feel a bit shallow saying it, but pixel graphics really put me off. I can never make sense of what they are meant to represent.

My time at Portia looks good though, adding that to the list.

They're both farm/village builder sim type games, similar to Harvest Moon, we thoroughly enjoyed both of them for weeks on end.
