Animal Crossing Newbie- what do I need to know?

Ok just bought this for 'the kids' Wink, what do I need to know, never played before.....
Any starters tips??

Thanks @ritzbiscuits....its just getting into it...I've just built Blathers his 'base camp' for his arrival, but Tom's stopped taking my 'new critters' off me to send, does it take a while for Blathers to arrive?

If you have specific questions You Tube is really helpful. We've looked up videos about fences, iron nuggets, growing money trees, all sorts!

Obviously we can help on here, but very useful resource if you're mid game and get stuck.

By that time the fortune is peanuts though, don't worry too hard about it.

Chat to your villagers, water flowers, catch fish, dig those * in the ground for fossils, ask Tom Nook "what should I do?" regularly, talk to Blathers (if he's there yet!) and donate fish etc to him, sell everything else to Tommy and Timmy.

"Played over 255 hours" it says here... whoops.

Think about how you might want your island layout to be in the future because once you unlock terraforming you'll spend a fortune moving buildings around...

Thank you @misskatamari ! I just seem to be getting loads of stones out of the rocks atm so I'll check out the link, thanks for that! (I did set myself up first Smile !)

Got the medicine recipe from a neighbour, selling weeds and catching fish, so I'll get selling...!

I'm sure my lo's will love it, I'm just giving them a bit of a head start when I've got a spare 5, obvs... GrinWink !

hi! Prepare to get totally sucked into this game :D DH got it for the kids and now I am completely hooked! First things to make sure is, did you set yourself up as major? Dh made the mistake of setting our six year old up as it at first, which meant only she could progress the story (which was very annoying as she doesn't play that much), so we reset it with DH as the major. Rocks are where you get clay, stone and iron nuggets, and bells and money sometimes. This trick gets lots from each rock www.nintendolife.com/guides/animal-crossing-new-horizons-rock-trick-how-to-get-8-things-from-rocks-clay-stones-bells-and-rock-respawns which is super useful. Medicine, you should be able to buy from the shop, but if you speak to your neighbours when stung, eventually one of them will give you a recipe to craft it. I believe this needs a wasps nest and some weeds. It's useful to hold your net and shake trees before cutting them, as that way you get branches (useful for fishing rods), and if wasps come out, you're ready to catch them and not get stung. With the campfire, if you just walk up to it, i think it should light. Maybe walk up to it and press A. To upgrade to a house, you need to pay off your moving in debt at Tom Nooks, so get fishing, bug catching etc and start selling to get plenty of bells :) Enjoy!

Tom just keeps telling me to collect critters atm? I've got a few DIY recipes from the bottles, but where do I get clay from?

Also medicine?? I've been stung!?

And the two others seem to have already upgraded their tents to little houses??

I've also made a campfire from the wood, but no option to light it!?

Thank you :) I've only just had 20 mins on it today, so just had a welcome party, named my island and learning how to make a fishing rod Smile...

I started playing the other day, and had to buy myself a switch as we couldn't share.

Make sure you hit all your rocks every day with your spade - you get money from 1 and iron, clay and stone from the other 5.

When shaking trees, have your net handy incase any wasps come out.

Talk to all your neighbours they give you presents 🎁

If you play after 8pm then you get night time creatures, and some different fish.
