Storage!? Having put all my stuff away in my 'house storage' I can't seem to access it!?

I've tried pressing the R on Dpad, but it just brings up the keyboard?

I am so happy to have found this thread! I have been given insider knowledge that I will be getting AC for my birthday... I am currently preparing by reading up everywhere, giving DH is birthday present early (Witcher 3 on the PC) so he can install and patch it and ordering cheese and wine in an online shop so my birthday evening can be grazing, gaming and booze.

I'd say I need to get out more but don't we all ;)

Thanks so much for this thread!

zebrapig · 13/05/2020 09:16

It's addictive! DH made the mistake of setting up DD (5) first and she's just interested in making the outside of her house look like Steptoe's yard. We were too far in to reset it so now we play as her when she's asleep to move us on in the game

LonginesPrime · 13/05/2020 09:08

I know - all the other AC players in my family are holding him up like some kind of god!

But I see you, pal...I see you...

Taddda · 13/05/2020 09:05

To be fair, he didn't make the best first impression on me since he came to my tent in the middle of the night on my first night there...I mean, who does that?

Grin I did start to wonder what the 'jail bars' were for....!!? I'll be looking at Nook in a slightly different light from now on, thanks for the heads up!!

Bloody Tom Nook is the most incompetent CEO ever - he overpromises to new residents then muggins here gets lumbered with running round building their houses and a shitload of furniture!

My DD pointed out that it's one of the missions of the game and I just need to get over it, and I get that - I don't think I would have been so annoyed if Nook had just said 'you need to do this now' but his saying 'oops, I massively fucked up and now you have to clear up my mess' really freaking irked me!

To be fair, he didn't make the best first impression on me since he came to my tent in the middle of the night on my first night there...I mean, who does that?

BrokenBrit · 13/05/2020 08:44

Yes pole first and later on bridges so all your villagers can cross the river too.

Taddda · 13/05/2020 08:41

@guiltynetter have you got the pole to vault across yet?

OP posts:
guiltynetter · 13/05/2020 08:19

my island layout is really small, I reckon I can access a third of it and the rest I can't get to because of the river...

is everyone else's like this? I'm assuming you can build a bridge at some point, but u don't know when.. m

Polkadotties · 13/05/2020 08:13

Yes you can’t get to the upper levels until you have a ladder

Taddda · 13/05/2020 08:10

(Another question....)!

Getting to higher ground? I'm waiting for a ladder, right? So shouldn't be trying to pole vault up there? Blush

andadietcoke · 13/05/2020 08:00

So glad I've found this thread. I've had Animal Crossing for about two weeks but am a bit intimidated by it so haven't even got it out of the box! I'm a ridiculous human being...

Taddda · 13/05/2020 07:49

Sling shot! Great stuff- haven't got the recipe for that yet so I can stop going mental chasing it around the island! Thanks @BrokenBrit !

OP posts:
BrokenBrit · 13/05/2020 07:46

@Taddda you need a sling shot to get the balloon presents Grin.

Taddda · 13/05/2020 07:39

How do I get the floating balloon presents!?? I've tried grabbing, bashing, 'A', the net....!? (I will get the hang of this I promise, thank you for all your help!)

Wilding · 13/05/2020 07:03

Yep anything you don't want out you can put into your house storage

Taddda · 13/05/2020 06:56

Press the + button to access those upper nook miles tasks.

Taddda · 13/05/2020 02:16

Brilliant!

Bought a ticket and managed to get 6x iron out of one rock, so just 15 more to go....SmileHmm....

Thanks for the 'hole digging' tip- really handy!

My house is starting to resemble the one you avoid down the street atm, all the usual offenders out the front (oil drum, spare tyre, life ring, rocks...bonfire...). I think it brought up a 'storage' option when I was placing stuff inside the house? Can I empty all my stuff into that just keep tools to hand?

Also in my 'nook miles' it keeps flashing red, up the top two of the 'notifications' are flashing 'claim' but when I scroll down theres nothing there? I can't cursor up to get them, should I be pressing something else?

Useful tip for getting the most out of rocks - dig a couple of holes so spanging doesn't knock you back and out of range. You can get all 8 things out of a rock that way pretty easily.

Make sure all 8 spaces around a rock are empty - no flowers or weeds. The rock's things need to land on those 8 spaces.

Stand in the top left of those 8 spaces - at the X:
X 2 3
4 s 5
6 7 8
Dig a hole directly up from you.
Dig a hole directly left of you.
Now angle yourself down-right to face towards the rock, and the two holes are at your back preventing you from being pushed away.

Now spang away at the rock tapping A like a mad person until you get all 8 things.

TheHighestSardine · 12/05/2020 21:19

They come back at the rate of one a day, they'll pop up randomly around your island.

Yes, if you eat fruit you destroy rocks instead of spanging them for goodies. Fruit count at the top left. If you find a toilet you can crap out the fruit! You can also spade up entire trees and pop them in your pocket when you're hopped up on fruit - each tree will use up one fruit. You can plant them again immediately if you like. That'll come in useful later :)

"Local islands" actually means "Other people with Switches playing AC right now, in your wifi range". "Remote islands" means other people's islands but over the Internet, and you'll need Nintendo Online (£19/year) to do that, and friends who have their islands open, or people who have shared their Dodo Code.

What you need is a random island trip to hit rocks and pick up resources! You need to go to residential services, go to the Nook Stop machine, redeem 2000 Nook Miles on a Nook Miles ticket, and take that back to the airport and Orville will point out that you have it on you - there's a new chat menu entry to use it.

Have fun! You can get as many of those Nook Miles Tickets as you like, as long as you have miles.

Taddda · 12/05/2020 21:09

Just a quickie...I've destroyed all my rocks!? (Think I over did it on the apple eating....!)

Just wondering if they reappear!? Or is there something I can do to get some back? It's been two days now since I decimated them!?

Thing is I need the iron ore for the shop- I cant seem to get a flight to the 'local islands' as he keeps telling me theres none available at this time...

Any tips?

I think the museum takes a day or two from memory.
