Hmm, that looks very odd @derekthe1adyhamster. I did get the blue "aura" type thing around on the phone, but there was a boot inside it. Report as an issue?

If you click on the suitcase, then the settings in top left and then the ? bottom right, there's a "report a bug" function.

I just did the portkey thing. You have to allow access to your camera. There should be an icon of a boot - the portkey. You then tap the book and the picture changes to another location, the app will tell you to tap on 5 items. Move your phone around and tap on the little balls of light.

I was out for a walk this morning. Still getting to grips with the game but here's what I've learned:

  • Pokestops and gyms are now greenhouses, inns and fortresses. Fortresses are more like gyms in PoGo. Tap on a greenhouse and you get stuff to make potions. Tap on an inn and you get spell energy. Each recharge in 5 minutes.
  • the app doesn't seem to make my phone vibrate when something shows up on the map. Annoying.
  • also it seems to be much more battery heavy than PoGo.
  • I like that you can customise your ministry ID with filters and hogwarts scarves, and choose your hogwarts house (hufflepuff, obvs).
  • everything you collect goes into a thing like a sticker book. rewards fro each thing you collect.
  • you can choose between being an Auror, Magizoologist and a Professor when you get to level 6. Not quite sure what that's all about yet, I'm a Professor and you use the wee scroll things to progress in your career.
  • potions appear to take time to brew but you can speed them up using gold if you want.
  • daily challenges like in PoGo.

I'm stuck with the portal. I can open one but I just have a blue semi circle at the bottom of the screen and I'm not sure what to do.....

I've just started this with my daughter (can we play without adding friends? I'm trying to teach her internet safety!)

We're catching things big I haven't a clue about spells and all sorts....

I'm still figuring this game out, but it has the potential to be fun I think. Although I struggled to juggle it with playing Pokémon Go in the school run this morning! Can't just spin a gym as I fly past with 2 games on the go.

I'mpressed with the concept so far but I live in a fairly rural location and am already realising that lack of spell energy may spoil my gameplay.
