I have far lower standards! Anything over 60% stays.
DS wants to know if you'd transfer a sub-90% Mewtwo? Grin

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 06/11/2018 15:43

Well I got a shiny cubone but it’s terrible level so I doubt I’ll evolve it.

tryingtocatchthewind When you say “level” do you mean CP or IV?

Shinies are the only exception to my 90% + IV rule. If I only have the one, I’ll keep it in whatever form I think looks the best. So when I only had one shiny Wailmer, I kept it as a shiny Wailmer because I preferred it to shiny Wailord Smile

tryingtocatchthewind · 06/11/2018 15:38

bettytaghetti · 06/11/2018 12:24

Another call for BrieLane! Do you want to coordinate using eggs?

Also Skingaling, we are due for best friends tomorrow, and would like to coordinate with you too if you're planning on using an egg?

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 06/11/2018 11:23

Sorry, another one! How do you know a Pokémon is shiny? Do you have to catch it first and then it goes shiny, or do you know it's shiny because of something else?

Tinkerbellisnotafairy You will know the second you click on a Pokemon if it’s shiny or not. When you encounter a Pokemon that’s shiny, loads of stars flash around the Pokemon to indicate that it’s shiny. It also has a three star symbol next to its name (like the little cloud weather boost icon).

Most shinies are obvious due to their colour differences (ie. shiny Ponyta has a blue flame not orange, shiny Pineco is gold not green) but some are a little harder to tell (shiny Plusle only has a slight colour difference in the red, shiny Bulbasaur is only a slightly different shade of green).

Once you’ve caught it, you also get a double warning before attempting to transfer it and it has three stars in the main Pokemon screen to indicate it is shiny too. So it’s very hard to accidentally transfer it.

Outside of community day events and events with increased Pokemon spawns, shiny Pokemon are very rare to come across.

TallulahBetty · 06/11/2018 11:19

You'll know it's shiny when you encounter it. It'll have sparkles round it and it is a different colour Smile

Tinkerbellisnotafairy · 06/11/2018 11:03

Thanks everyone for answering my questions :)

K...this community day...is it 9 till 12 because of the clock change??

PyeWackets Nope, 10-1 same as always.

Anyone else's PoGo spawning more Ponyta and Cubone today?

pottypotamus Shiny Ponyta and Cubone were released at 9pm last night, with increased spawns for those two Pokemon, to celebrate the release of Ingress Prime.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 06/11/2018 10:26

They're everywhere!

Opened up the app this morning to find my first Ex raid pass! Anyone else got one? Mines for next week-4.30 so not a terrible time, but it means DS will have to have his tea a bit later and come with me

News about Cyndaquil community day: Typhlosion will have the exclusive move Blast Burn if Quilava is evolved during or one hour after the event Smile

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 05/11/2018 21:41

I’m a member of my local Discord and while I don’t usually join in groups, some people raid from their car and some bring kids in the back seat (often also playing).

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 05/11/2018 21:39

I'd be turning up with my buggy so was curious about how it all works.

JuniLoolaPalooza We have a few parents in our group who often bring their babies or young kids to raids Smile

JuniLoolaPalooza · 05/11/2018 21:25

Ah, thanks for the info wailmer. There's a really busy group where I live, and separate raiding groups for the areas of the city via Facebook. They do the screenshot thing like you said. I'd be turning up with my buggy so was curious about how it all works. It's been a nice thing to do on maternity leave, I've definitely saved a lot of money!

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 05/11/2018 21:17

Is anyone in a raiding group? I'm a bit curious about the etiquette - do you just stand around on your phones?

JuniLoolaPalooza Yes, I’m in a raid group. I’m one of the original members from the first day it was set up. We’re all good friends now and have a lot of history together (as we’ve spent so many raids, community days, raid days etc. together).

We communicate via WhatsApp, so when someone sees a raid they’d like to do they screenshot it into the group and then whoever wants to join says so and a time to meet is agreed. Then we all chat and do the raid together.

A lot of raid group members and certainly the more hardcore players buy a lot of boxes and end up with a surplus of passes way before the raid days even come round. I think I have 50+ premium raid passes just because they were in boxes I bought (and I raid several times a week as well so it’s not like they’re rarely used).

JuniLoolaPalooza · 05/11/2018 21:04

I caught a Ditto as a pidgey then used it in a gym battle against DP. it was fun!

I've been checking out pokestops on pokemongomap.info and it's closed! Sad I'm mainly in suburbia at the moment so it's been handy for finding stops when visiting friends etc.

Is anyone in a raiding group? I'm a bit curious about the etiquette - do you just stand around on your phones?
Also, do raiding groups buy premium passes or similar? A group did a raiding walk on Saturday and hit about 20 gyms to get all the Gengars but I'm not sure how they managed to get so many passes!

Thanks

BSJohnson · 05/11/2018 20:48

If PrincessHFluffy is still around on here, sorry!

I just accidentally opened a gift from you and triggered best friends (frisbyrat).

I'm hoping you're not running PoGo right now; if not, crack a lucky egg as soon as you next start up the game, and you should still get your double xp.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 05/11/2018 19:25

dillite Maybe. Have a look at this.

I don't like Kricketot, oh no, I love it, yeah
WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 05/11/2018 19:23

Has anyone caught a Ditto? Can it literally be ANY pokemon that's around?

Tinkerbellisnotafairy No. Ditto can only be a select number of Pokemon, and those Pokemon are:

• Pidgey
• Ratatta
• Zubat
• Ghastly
• Sentret
• Yanma
• Hoothoot
• Zigzagoon
• Whismur
• Gulpin
• Mankey
• Remoraid

Your best chance to find a Ditto is to click on and catch all the Pokemon listed above. It is crucial that you catch them, as you will only know after you’ve caught them if they’re a Ditto.

Can I ask what all this coordinating with eggs and best friend status is about?

Once a day when you interact with a friend (opening gifts, battling with them, raiding with them or trading with them), your friendship level increases. There are four friendship levels and you earn XP when you gain a new level. Here are the levels and their respective XPs:

• Good Friends (1 Day): 3,000 XP
• Great Friends (7 Days): 10,000 XP
• Ultra Friends (30 Days): 50,000 XP
• Best Friends (90 Days): 100,000 XP

Along with XP bonuses you also get trading discounts and extra balls during raids for each level.

If you put a lucky egg on when you are about to hit the next level, you will get double the amount of XP. So you can get 200,000 XP for turning best friends with a lucky egg.

If you have a blue background around your friend, it means you have interacted that day. If it says 1 day till great/ultra/best friends, if it is blue you know you will turn that level tomorrow; if there is no blue background then when you interact today you will hit the next level.

Whichever friend starts the interaction (ie. opens the gift) will trigger the status for both parties and receive the XP, so if you don’t co-ordinate eggs only the person who triggered it will receive the double XP if they have an egg on*.

  • If you know the other person has triggered it and you’re very quick, when you next open the game you have a few seconds to try and put a lucky egg on to get the double XP, but it doesn’t always work.
snaggletoothmoose · 05/11/2018 18:31

Folks, have anyone else's friends disappeared from the app? I'm bereft!
