I couldn't do much this time around, busy with kids stuff happening, but I did get 30 mins out and about and another hour in a cafe with 2 lures nearby. I have to say I was a bit disappointed!! There were hardly any cyndaquils around, some pokestops had none near at all. Still got three shines and enough candies to evolve two really good Typhlosions (both of which I'd been saving... Didn't catch many good IV/CP combinations!)

I was expecting more to be around, maybe I've been spoilt by going to Chester for the last couple, but Charmander day I remember as having 3-6 around every pokestop!

Tinkerbellisnotafairy · 11/11/2018 08:21

I didn't get any shinies Angry

I think I'm cursed against shiny Mon!

DS caught 130 cyndequil and evolved a shiny into a shiny Typhlosion, so he was very very happy Smile

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 11/11/2018 07:35

I added you too... Sw.....cat

CarcerDun · 11/11/2018 06:39

I've sent you a request damned, I'm Bulbotus Smile

DoctorTwo · 11/11/2018 00:57

I had a good day yesterday. I drove miles to be amongst my friends in my 'local' group and struggled to find a place to park. Once I'd parked my first 'Mon was a shiny Cyndaquil. In the end I caught 5 shinies and did a few trades, some for critters I wanted, and a couple for distance. Also I added 2 to my 'Dex, shinx and Giratina, so I'm well happy.

The best bit though was walking around joking with people I call friend, something I've not been able to do for a couple of months. I hope to be back there for next Community Day.

Would it be ok to leave my Pokemon trainer number here, in case anyone needs new friends for the special quests (I still need 3 😮)

Oh, you've got an Alolan dillite! Grin

SneakyGremlins · 10/11/2018 21:28

Great Pokémon team!

dillite · 10/11/2018 21:17

Ooops, wrong thread

dillite · 10/11/2018 21:16

I shall join in with a cat, and a dog, picture. I got them a new bed where both can fit and it is no longer the case of one hanging off on the side.

Oh, I defeated that weasel looking pokemon today. That spinning tail attack that it does is hilarious! Made me proper LOL at it.

BouleBaker · 10/11/2018 19:28

Oooh. I finally found 5 bug type Pokémon and got this lovely thing.

I don't like Kricketot, oh no, I love it, yeah
TrashPanda · 10/11/2018 19:22

Yep, I only appraise 'battle with the best of them', shinies or 7 day research rewards.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 10/11/2018 18:09

So it looks like it's changing as there's not another way to check more accurately

Yes, that’s it exactly Smile I never have this problem though; but that could be because I only put Pokemon into PokeGenie that are worth it (so no low CP or low levels with the exception of shinies).

TrashPanda · 10/11/2018 16:06

I definitely put in the appraisal. I think I get it now Blush The IV value doesn't change but the only way it can be found is sometimes can't get an accurate answer so picks the average. So it looks like it's changing as there's not another way to check more accurately Smile

PickAChew · 10/11/2018 15:49

There's calcy IV, as well.

Pokegenie gives you all the possible IVs based on the cp, hp, stardust needed to evolve and so on. You need to use it in conjunction with the appraisal, as that is invisible to it. The IV that it gives is an average, based on all the possible combinations of attack, defense and hp, so, if the appraisal says its attack is best, that helps you to narrow down which value is likely to be correct.

Just using the headline average value would explain why some people are seeing an apparent change in IVs upon evolving.

TrashPanda · 10/11/2018 15:36

Is there another more accurate way to check IV then, other than Poke Genie?

BaronessBomburst · 10/11/2018 15:28

I caught my last cyndaquil with a silver pinap, earning enough candies to evolve, at 13:59! In fact, the church bell struck as it was wriggling in the ball. Shock
So I have my typhlosion. I also caught two shines.
But more importantly, I caught an abra and evolved my lucky kadabra! Grin
And I've since changed his fast move to confusion. Smile

dillite · 10/11/2018 14:35

We couldn't do community day as my MOT failed and I was busy searching for the necessary part. But still, 50 cyndaquil were caught, 5 shiny, best shiny 79% and best normal 98% but only 78CP. Got enough candy to evolve 2 so evolved 2. Didn't find the necessary car part though.

PickAChew · 10/11/2018 14:32

7 day streak day, for me, today. And I have a nice little rabble of firefarters, too.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 10/11/2018 14:12

MrsJamin It’s irrelevant really. Typhlosion isn’t a Pokemon worth powering up or using in battle so either is fine.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 10/11/2018 14:12

TrashPanda If a Pokemon is a low level (under 20) or CP, PokeGenie will find it a lot harder to get an accurate IV result and give you several IV combinations.

IVs don’t change after evolution; it’s not possible. What’s happening is that PokeGenie may have a more accurate mathematical structure to go on after a Pokemon is powered up or evolved and thus the ability to see the correct IV (or a more accurate one if you still have multiple IV combinations) is present.

If you ever have more than one possible IV combination, that’s because PokeGenie doesn’t know the true IV and is only estimating. If you then evolve and get a different IV, that is not the IV changing because that is impossible, that is PokeGenie being able to read the stats more clearly.

Cyndaquil Community Day Statistics and Analysis

I caught seven shinies, one which I evolved to shiny Typhlosion, one to shiny Quilava, and the others stayed as shiny Cyndaquil.

Before the event my personal stats were:

XP: 1,997,113
Dust: 3,285,984
Cyndaquil Seen: 71
Cyndaquil Caught: 59

After the event my personal stats are:

XP: 2,840,298
Dust: 3,425,282
Cyndaquil Seen: 279
Cyndaquil Caught: 249

I gained 843,185 XP
I gained 139,298 dust
I saw 208 Cyndaquil
I caught 190 Cyndaquil
18 Cyndaquil ran

I played the whole three hours meaning I caught 0.94 Cyndaquil per minute, which is pretty good.

Overall, while I had an excellent day in terms of XP, dust and number of shinies, the Cyndaquil I did catch were all poor IVs (highest 84%). Thankfully Typhlosion is not a Pokemon I ever use in battle anyway so it’s no great loss Smile

CarcerDun · 10/11/2018 14:01

My beauty, 98%IV and I also got one shiny, happy morning 😁
