PokemonGo #15. We're gonna rock down to Electrike Avenue

I am in a Facebook group but it covers the whole county and most people seem to be a fair distance away.
There is a local Facebook group but it doesn't appear to be active. I asked to join but no response.
I spotted some likely people on the seafront a couple of Sundays ago but I was working so I couldn't stop
I might need to go and hang around on my next Sunday off

Iruka Are you on Facebook? My local area has a very active Pokemon Facebook group where raids are planned. Until I discovered this (and then plucked up courage to join) I had never battled a gym other than level one or two.
Alternatively go to your local town centre on a Saturday and look out for gyms with a level 5 raid. Hang around until you see a group studiously studying their phones and go and ask if you can join them. Most groups should welcome new members as the more people attacking the better.

If you're worried about your age/sex; don't worry, there will almost certainly be some 'older' people and often women - it's not all young men, although they are in the majority.

Iruka That’s a shame I think your best bet is to raid frequently at gyms in park areas Saturday through Wednesday.

(However, what Pokemon Go considers a park area differs from what you and I would consider a park area!)

To get a pass it's not absolutely necessary to raid a gym, but it does help. For our second Ex-Raid it was at a gym I hadn't raided but had battled. Your best bet is to at least spin every gym you come across, I got a pass for a gym I only spun. I didn't go, as a 140 mile round trip to raid didn't appeal.

That’s not true; to get an ex-raid pass you have to have done a raid there (any star). The only exceptions to this are the glitch passes that Niantic admitted were a mistake.

I can't find a local raid group. I am sure there is one but no luck making contact 😞. I work shifts so not usually out and about at the usual times

How do i know which gyms are ex-raid gyms?

Iruka Unless you’re part of a local raid group, it will be very hard to find out. While they’re usually in parks, this isn’t guarenteed, and just because a gym is an ex-raid gym it won’t either guarantee a pass (especially if you don’t hit it in the right time or enough people haven’t triggered it), or even an ex-raid.

It’s taken the majority of raid groups a very long time and a lot of work to work out their local ex-raid gyms.

How do i know which gyms are ex-raid gyms?

I didn’t even see what you needed for the 8th part of the quest I just had to claim the rewards!

Also got my excellent curve ball this morning (Cacnea) and quickly caught the remaining Pokemon with berry. I think this last Research group has actually been the quickest to complete by a long way .

So, overall this has been the best morning ever for Poke hunting. Within half an hour I caught my 2nd Latias (and at an Ex-Raid gym, so fingers crossed..), caught a 4th Moltres from the Field Challenges and then last but not least, my lovely little Mew.

GreenShadow make the most of the increased Wailmer spawns at the moment- the circle is huge and makes it a lot easier to throw excellent curveballs

I've struggled on raids this week. The most accessible gym is having a pre-ex raid hiatus, and there just don't seem to be many 1 or 2 stars and most raids have been at awkward times. There's not much enthusiasm for Latias now (still haven't got it, it kept escaping). The other morning there were two 5* raids at about 8:30 at neighbouring gyms which was a right waste as everyone is busy around then. I've never known the chats be so quiet other than a bit of shiny envy
One left to go for the research...

Finally managed my 10th raid today.
Now to try and perfect my Excellent curve while ploughing through the 50 catches using a berry. Could be some time....

After taking an age to get a Ditto all the ghosts have dissapeared due to the event. Only need 2 more. Usually have them in my house.
Loving the event though. Got lots of new ones to evolve

I found something on YouTube today called the ‘l throw’ it seems to make curveballs easier but it will be a long time before I manage and excellent one! I play when I’m rushing around or sat breastfeeding so I always play one handed and on the move or under a baby so I don’t have time to perfect any technique.

'iheart' and 'staying' I know I'm going to struggle with the curveball one too. I didn't even know a curveball was a thing until this challenge! I'm still on trying to do 10 raids - 4 more to go. Need to crack on before they change the reward from Mew to something else.

I got kicked out a minute after midnight, the other day. Annoying because that meant I'd skipped a whole day's coins.

My Snorlax was kicked out of the gym at 11:58 last night. Which was actually good as I’d had no coins that day but does seem to happen a lot.

There are guys here with multiple accounts Pick. In the raids I did yesterday one guy was doing the raid with three accounts - was fighting with two of them using little finger and tumb.
