Dillite I had a bit of luck with the Mew raids - had a shuppet nest next to work so caught my ghost pokemon quickly, plus already had 400+ Magikarp candy waiting to go. I also caught a ditto on the first day of that particular task level, although that was part of a dedicated four hours of pokemon hunting.

Wartortle88 · 21/04/2018 17:23

They've fixed the raid thing Crabbit so if you've gotten the task in the last ten days you can no longer let the timer run out and go back in multiple times - you have to do 10 separate rates.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 21/04/2018 16:48

How have some of you gotten a mew so quickly?

dillite Some people in our group had Mew within two days, and had I not been working, I would have too. Instead it took me a little longer, think I got it after a week?

But I raid at least two or three times a day anyway so found that really easy.

CrabbitArse · 21/04/2018 16:31

It's still possible to do the 10 raid task quickly though, find a low level raid, stick a Blissey in & dodge as though your life depended on it until the timer runs out, do not hit it in case you win. Heal up then go back in, you can get quite a few done using only the one raid pass this way & if you use Blissey you shouldn't need too many potions. Then win the last one & you should have registered all the unsuccessful ones too. I did mine on a Sneasel the other day, didn't arrive at hatch but managed to do about 6 before the timer ran out.

KadabrasSpoon · 21/04/2018 16:06

The mew task will probably end before I get it. Ditto remains elusive!

Efferlunt · 21/04/2018 16:00

@dillite there was a glitch in the ‘win 10 raids’ that earlier players could exploit by exiting and rejoining the raid counted multiple times. Unfortunately the glitch was fixed before I got to it and I’m still slogging through the raids.

dillite · 21/04/2018 14:13

How have some of you gotten a mew so quickly?

DoctorTwo · 21/04/2018 09:03

Don't give up on the Latias raids @Efferlunt, it took me 7 tries to get one. I've now done 16 raids and caught 5. A friend caught her 1st 9 and has done another 17 raids and now has 10! :o She really is a bugger to catch.

@CollyWombles, I agree with the others, don't waste stardust on rats and pigeons, don't power up anything until you're at least level 25, maybe even level 30, and then only 'Mon that are over 90%. I power up sparingly, the only ones being my 100% Feraligatr, now a 2604CP level 37 critter, Dragonite, my best Gary, my best Golem and my best Tyranitar.

I treat Stardust like gold (or its digital equivalent) as it's finite. You only get it from catches or raids, it's the one thing you can't buy in the shop. Long may that continue.

On my quest towards Mew I will complete task 6/8 today by evolving another Gary and doing 10 raids. I have no idea what tasks await as I haven't searched. I just know (from Prof. Willow) that it's invisible. Now I hope to learn how to 'see' it.

tumpymummy Niantic runs another game called Ingress, which has portals (like our stops and gyms). The high level players who play that game can put in requests for new portals and since Niantic owns both games takes approved portals and adds them into Pokemon Go as stops and gyms.

tumpymummy · 21/04/2018 00:22

What are Ingress players? 2 new pokestops near me - both pubs. Plus weirdly another has disappeared?

soupforbrains · 21/04/2018 00:19

It doesn't just happen occasionally though... ingress members of the right level can request/propose up to 7 new portals every 14 days.

The usual delay between a portal being accepted in ingress and turning up in PoGo is about 24-48hrs. So it's actually happening all the time not just in 'waves'

Also information about S14 cells and how many stops are needed per cell to trigger the 1st, 2nd or 3rd gyms is available on the silph road. But it's worth noting that the stop which becomes a gym seems to be chosen at random.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 20/04/2018 23:28

Yeah, it’s because high level Ingress players have the ability to add portals in their game which are then added to Pokémon Go as stops and gyms Smile

PickAChew · 20/04/2018 23:15

I spotted at least 3 new ones as we passed through the city centre, this evening.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 20/04/2018 22:57

More Pokestops and Gyms have been added to the game, so keep an eye out!

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 20/04/2018 13:48

CollyWombles Congrats! The game definitely starts getting more interesting now, as the Pokemon you catch and hatch will be much better Smile

CollyWombles · 20/04/2018 13:34

Yay level 20 now! I got a moltres today too

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 20/04/2018 11:45

Dobby1sAFreeElf Your best option for an IV calculator is the app PokeGenie; it gives you an accurate percentage after you put in the appraisal.

87% is good (same as mine, but CP 1304); the majority of Mews seem to be in the 80s.

For anything you want to evolve and power up and battle with though, you want over 90%, but that doesn’t really apply to Mew Smile

Dobby1sAFreeElf · 20/04/2018 11:29

Plugged the info into something and got IV of 87%. I'm guessing that's ok. Confused

Dobby1sAFreeElf · 20/04/2018 11:22

I have no clue on the IV front!

I know Mew is non gender but I felt cruel calling her it so decided this one could be a her like my real kitty. I'm also considering calling any other cats I get in the future Mew and Mewtwo Grin

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 20/04/2018 11:17

She's mine. Mine. All mine. And I luffs her.

Dobby1sAFreeElf Congrats on Mew! What IVs? But it doesn’t actually have a gender Grin

Its DNA has the genetic composition of all other Pokemon and within the games the scientists see it as the single ancestor of all other Pokemon too.

Dobby1sAFreeElf · 20/04/2018 11:00

Just, just as I was about to give up for the day a makuhita appeared and well...

She's mine. Mine. All mine. And I luffs her.

Good luck everyone trying to catch dittos, battle in raids, trying to excellent curve ball etc. May today also be your day

Oh, I had no idea that it was set by weeks. I was hoping it was a random reward.

dillite No, it’s not random. Everyone gets the same Pokemon.

I suppose my choice of the word ‘week’ is wrong; I more meant for the third time you complete the seven day field research at this time it’s definitely still Moltres.

We’re not yet sure how it’s going to pan out; whether if as soon as it gets to May they’ll change it or after every four you do it will get changed. We’re unsure, but it does appear likely it might change by month.

Regardless of how they decide to change it, everyone gets the same Pokemon, so if you’re behind you can find out what you’re going to get when you get there.

dillite · 20/04/2018 01:01

Oh, I had no idea that it was set by weeks. I was hoping it was a random reward.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 19/04/2018 22:45

dillite No, it’s not changed. Moltres is still the reward for the 3rd week.

soupforbrains · 19/04/2018 22:14

Unlikely dillite I know people who've been catching their 3rd Moltres today but we shall see....
