I have never played this before but I think I would like it. Is it best to play on iPad or xbox360. What should I start with? I quite like the idea of dressing the characters etc. Don’t know where to start though! Xx

Computer is best. There is Sims 2, Sims 3 and Sims 4. Have a look at some youtube videos to see which you would like best as they are priced differently.

I am still an avid sims 2 fan and have never found 3 or 4 took my interest even though I have both of them Blush

I don't think the console or tablet versions are anything like the same.

Mid 40s and playing Sims stil!
I play the Sims 3 on my Mac and tend to play the Supernatural version the most. I love making a genetic condition like green skin and seeing how long it will last with descendants.

I've got to say I'm quite relieved to not be the only one in their late twenties still playing the Sims Grin

Eyebooyanbooyaboo · 29/10/2017 09:06

He went through a long phase of one night stands! I bought him the "beguile" skill so he can get the laydeez very easily.

Thiswillbemyusername · 29/10/2017 08:47

@Eyebooyanbooyaboo 25 DC Shock haha. I have aging set to long. My first Sims have just reached adulthood and I've been playing for about 76 hours (last time I checked the stats). I don't let all the Sims age together though, I like to play each family individually so they have a sort of narrative Smile

Eyebooyanbooyaboo · 29/10/2017 07:38

DH bought me Sims 4 for my birthday this year. I'm very interested in the pets expansion, too!

My favourite sim has been living a loooong time due to the anti aging potion. He has about 25 DC!! He's outlived almost all of his partners and DC, and I'm now working on the grandchildren. He's Ben abducted twice and had alien babies. He is a legend.

Thiswillbemyusername · 29/10/2017 07:23

@Thiswillbemyusername it's semi-open world. When you zoom out of your house it loads most of the houses around yours, just not the entire town like sims 3 did. This leads me to play a bit 'closer' to the action, if that makes sense?. In Sims 3 I tended to be zoomed out all the time so didn't really watch the Sims doing much. There are mini loading screens if you want to go any further (another town for example) however they take approximately 5 seconds to load. Whether that's down to my laptop or the game I'm not sure: I did buy a pretty good machine back in the same year the Sims 4 game out. It seems to run faster, has never crashed, unlike the Sims 3 which did for me, a lot!. Again not sure whether that's a software/hardware problem Smile

I love love love the sims i was also 10 when started to play now am 27. Currently onsims 4 but going back to Sims 3.

Fruitcocktail6 · 28/10/2017 22:21

Thiswillbemyusername I heard it's not open world? I couldn't bear the loading screens for every change in sims 2.

meltingmarshmallows · 28/10/2017 21:54

Make that 12 ... But you get the gist Grin

meltingmarshmallows · 28/10/2017 21:53

Played it since I was 10 (29 now!) ... first time I ever stayed up all night was playing it haha. Has to be PC or Mac, the console / device versions are super stripped back.

Thiswillbemyusername · 28/10/2017 21:53

@Fruitcocktail6 I have plenty of good things to say about the Sims 4 Grin I loved Sims 1, was completely addicted to Sims 2, couldn't get into Sims 3, but Sims 4 has really kick started my interest again. It reminds me a lot of Sims 2, but if you asked me why I couldn't give you an answer! It's just the feeling of it

Fruitcocktail6 · 28/10/2017 21:49

You can buy a disc of download Origin and you can buy them online through it.

EmmaLou3422 · 28/10/2017 21:35

I started playing this when I was 11 and I still play it now at 27, I’ve lost so many hours of my life to this game 🙈 it’s best played on the PC, but I have played it on an Xbox and it’s still good.

user1494815704 · 28/10/2017 21:24

So addictive! Best played on pc

DeleteOrDecay · 28/10/2017 21:21

You can buy and download it digitally. You just need Origin, which is basically Electronic Arts’ version of the App Store. If you go on the sims official website it should walk you through it.

cheeseandbiscuitsplease · 28/10/2017 21:19

So do I buy a disc? Sorry I’m not tech savvy at all. Can you tell? Grin

PC will always be the best experience but I have enjoyed the console versions in the past, The Sims Bustin’ Out On PS2 was a favourite of mine years ago and I also enjoyed the Gameboy versions, however they are not the same as the PC version - they tend to be more goal/story based rather than an openworld/sandbox version like on PC.

There’s a new console version coming out in November which might be worth a look if you don’t have a decent laptop or PC to run it on.

Rheged · 28/10/2017 21:00

It’s great but very addictive. I’m on a self-imposed ban since I lost way too much time to it in my earl 20s.

NoSwsForYou · 28/10/2017 20:58

Oh god I've just just femembered I had a special 'sims' notebook where I recorded my families details. IT must have been the sims 2 because I was swapping between households... It was like a family tree.

Marble2302 · 28/10/2017 20:37

I love the Sims. I play Sims 3 on PC it's the best platform :)

Fruitcocktail6 · 28/10/2017 20:27

I have PC version of sims 3, I've been playing it since i was about 10! I have no interest in sims 4 though, I haven't heard good things.

eyeswideshit · 28/10/2017 20:24

Yes it's very addictive. I've gone a couple of days with no sleep and nothing to eat before Blush

Babababababybel23 · 28/10/2017 20:19

I refuse to play it now on the grounds that as a teen I was addicted to playing it and I'm terrified I will be sucked in again Confused
