Yeah, I know I'm scraping the barrel now... :o But at least you get an earworm.

Still just keeping up the streaks, but yesterday I HATCHED A SNORLAX. That's No2, and I have 40 Snorlax candy.

I get it re grinding up Pikachus, it just feels wrong. I do it though, 'cos I'm heartless. Wink

During these time slots for the event this evening, will their be increased spawns and Pokemon around like during the grass/water events etc?

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/07/2017 07:10

Noooooo pink bananas are delicious what's the matter with these pokemon? They aren't having my pineapples anyway Grin

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 22/07/2017 04:29

Ooh, new anniversary boxes have appeared in the shop selling lures, pinaps and raid passes!

Here is a cost effectiveness break down for anyone interested: www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/6os4j0/new_boxes_on_sale_in_the_shop/

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 21/07/2017 23:34

They get bored of berry types, too, so you can't just keep hoping they like the taste of bananas.

Well I'd be a bit pissed off if someone kept feeding me the exact same thing repeatedly too! Grin

Unless it was pizza... 😂

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 21/07/2017 23:10

Oddish There is also a berry feeding limit: 10 unique pokemon can be fed every 30mins and each pokemon can be fed 10 berries in 30mins.

So you can't just keep doing it.

Also, I don't know the exact numbers, but each subsequent berry gives less motivation too. So if you feed it one berry, it might get 50 motivation. A second berry 30, a third 10 and so on.

Berry feeding really doesn't stop anyone taking a gym!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 21/07/2017 23:09

Ahh thank you it's more complicated than I thought this berry business

PickAChew · 21/07/2017 23:03

The only time I've held onto a gym was berry feeding is when we took it over then started to be attacked about 3 minutes before a raid started. We got 90 minute sin that one.

So remote berry feeding might cost an opponent a single potion or something in inconvenience, but lots of berries for you.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 21/07/2017 22:54

But if someone is fighting you in a gym you can remotely feed berries to bring health up so if you have more berries than the person fighting you has potions or time then they won't be able to take it off you. That's how I understand it anyway.

Nope. Berry feeding gets less effective the more you do it on a Pokemon, and especially more so if you're doing it remotely.

It's easy enough to take a gym even if people nearby are feeding their Pokemon; it just takes a little longer (and by that I only mean about a couple of minutes longer).

It doesn't stop the gym being taken because every berry you feed it gives less and less motivation each time, so it's pretty pointless.

Oddish · 21/07/2017 22:15

Not that it's working at the moment anyway grumble grumble

I think it's so people can hold gyms for longer Abbey and less pokecoins will be paid out, but I am cynical

I don't think so; berry feeding really doesn't do much and remote berry feeding even less since it's less effective.

If someone wants to take down a gym, they're going to, whether motivation is full or not for those Pokemon. And Pokemon don't come out when their motivation gets low anyway, only when they're battled out.

Oddish · 21/07/2017 21:57

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 21/07/2017 21:57

I'm a bit confused about remote berry feeding. I thought the while point of feeding being introduced was so you'd have to go back to the gym. But now we don't? Perhaps I think about this game too much

Remote berry feeding is nowhere near as effective as if you're at the gym feeding them, so there's still an incentive to get to the actual gym.

Hatched another Mareep - egg from the same pokestop as the last 2. I've now gone from having never seen one to 60 something candy. Pretty happy with that

Natsku · 21/07/2017 16:54

So that's 7pm, 9pm, and 11pm for me, not good as I'm desperate for bed by 8 usually! I guess using incense and lures would be a good idea during those times.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 21/07/2017 12:24

Dillite2 Oh but as far as I'm aware, there's nothing specific happening; we just have to aid those in Chicago on their mission by catching as many Pokemon as possible during those time slots.

The more Pokemon the world catches as a whole during those times, the better the rewards will be for everyone Smile

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 21/07/2017 12:23

No worries Smile I'm glad at least one of the time slots is doable for you!

Dillite2 · 21/07/2017 12:04

Thank you what! 5pm is doable as we will be out at that time still so will just have to hope that there is something happening at our arse of nowhere.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 21/07/2017 11:33

This seems to suggest the legendary Pokemon will only appear between the 23rd July and the 24th July, so you'll need to keep your eyes peeled!

Starting July 23, everyone around the globe will be able to compete in the same sort of mystery challenge that Pokémon Go Fest attendees got to check out. The legendary Pokémon that first descended upon Chicago will then spread to gyms everywhere. Pokémon Go’s blog suggests that this will only last through July 24, so it’s best to check in with Pokémon Go as much as possible throughout the weekend.

Also, Dillite2, the challenge windows will be at 5pm, 7pm and 9pm and will last for half an hour each time.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 21/07/2017 11:27

So has the pikachu event ended then?

No; Pikachu in Ash's hat will stop appearing after the 24th July.

On Saturday, is the special event an all day thing or only during set hours? Because if it's in the evening or early nightime we won't be able to participate which would be a bit shit.

I believe it's set times between 5.00pm and 9.30pm, but I would need to double check that.

They look like they're waiting for their mates to turn up in a souped up Vauxhall Nova, @soubriquet

Probably passing around a rollie that smells funny.

Soubriquet · 21/07/2017 07:04

I hope the pikachu event has ended. Never thought I would say this but I'm actually sick of seeing him!

I mean how many do I bloody need?!
