Why the fuck do they keep going for water?!

Probably because it's the most common type of Pokémon and you just need to be in maybe 100m or so distance of a water source and the fish start spawning.

Also many of the other types just don't spawn in many locations. When I went out earlier, I saw no fire, grass or rock type. There were a very few electric type that spawned, but they were all event Pikachu.

There were plenty of normal types and water though.

Did we catch enough in the first session to unlock anything!?

It's not working like that.

If we catch enough Pokemon around the world in all three sessions, then they'll release a legendary. That's it.

Only the players in Chicago catching specific types will affect what bonuses we might get.

I went out and caught 20 vermin with my incense, way too tired to do it again for the last window.

Didn't get out to catch anything in the event windows as it was thunder and lighting outside!

Makes me glad I decided against going to Oberhausen.

So, Chester offers so much but fell flat on its backside. Could hardly spin a pokestop, couldn't get into the gyms and as soon as we did anything other than spin a pokestop or catch a Pokémon (nothing special), the app crashed. App crashed multiple times, at least 30 or so. So many disappointed people in the city.

Well this is all a bit of an anticlimax! I was at a big park 5-5.30pm with lures on all the pokestops. Managed to catch about 10 Pokemon but game was really laggy and kept crashing. Gave up for the last 5 minutes as I couldn't log in. I was also expecting in game messages to say what is happening or being achieved, but nothing. Did we catch enough in the first session to unlock anything!?

Well,we went to the park for the first challenge window and managed to catch 40 Pokémon. However, I'm a bit disappointed coming back to see the apparent chaos in Grant Park.

Based on numbers at the event it sounds like the legendary that will be released is going to be Articuno.

Apparently half the people aren't even in yet.

I caught (or tried to catch) everything I saw while I was out but that was more to do with me being 5k away from the next level. I caught a Skarmory, not something that I see everyday. I walked past a L4 raid but there was no-one there. I can solo a L2 and everything else I have to leave. I might sneak off to town tomorrow and see if I can find someone to play with.

Bugger OH isn't home yet and I don't fancy dragging DD out for a bike ride (as it'll be 9pm over here) - hopefully he comes home in the next 15 minutes

Apparently Grant park in Chicago is full of unown and heracross. There's a qr code to get in, to deter spoofers and Muppets sharing the codes on Twitter

Was half thinking about popping over to Chester tomorrow but all the reports are that the servers are constantly crashing, and it's hardly possible to play. No reports of any interesting spawns either.

cottonwool125 No, no increased spawns. We just have to catch as many as possible so incense and lures will be good!

There is a certain number of Pokemon they require before they will release the legendary. If we don't meet it (and they haven't disclosed it), we won't get a legendary

So everyone needs to catch everything they see!

Also, I would refrain from taking any gyms for the time being; mainly because if we do release the legendary then when it comes around the world to your location on either Sunday or Monday, you will need your potions and revives!

I only need 3 more candies for my porygon evolve!! Finally.

I don't think so cottonwool I think we just have to catch lots of Pokemon from 5-5.30 7-7.30 and 9-9.30pm so I imagine lots of people will be putting down lures in popular places.
