Despite only really playing at the weekend due to working I'm now 180k through Level 31. Today I cheated somewhat. The M25 was stationary, so I opened the app and left it on. I had 8 eggs cooking and between junctions 18 and 22 managed to hatch 7 of them. Mantine, 2x Exegcute, Krabby, Eevee, Togepi and Magby.

Congrats Abbey on reaching Level 30, and commiserations Spammy on not being able to log in.

Inniu looks like magicarp? Maybe it shows a shadow of the boss Pokemon when there's a raid happening near you for some reason Smile

53rdWay · 24/06/2017 19:37

Magikarp I think

inniu · 24/06/2017 19:34

What is this a shadow of? I couldn't figure it out

But what makes a level 20 different/better? I have been going by the in-game appraisal and the CP to decide which pokemon to power up/evolve. What does level 20 refer to?

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 24/06/2017 19:06

Do you get raid passes from any pokestop or is it the ones on the gym where the raid is happening?

You only get them for from gyms, and it's always your first gym pokestop of the day.

What exactly do you mean by level 20,and why is it important? I get an average of 3-4 magikarp per week, if that makes a difference.

You can only tell the Pokemon's level by using an app (not the cheating ones where you have to put in your login info, just a regular one), and that says whether it's above Level 20.

There's little point evolving or powering up a Pokemon below Level 20 even if it has good IVs.

Magikarp are fairly common, yes, but it will be rare to get a plus Level 20 in the wild.

I mean, it's your Pokemon, so at the end of the day it's your judgment call if you want to chuck Smile

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 24/06/2017 18:53

To be honest, I have no flipping idea what level 20 is! I thought you meant 'perfect IV' which it was not. I have two Gyarados who are both fully powered up 'wonders' so anything less than a very high cp wonder is not particularly interesting as anything other than fish food.

PickAChew · 24/06/2017 18:29

Apparently it's 50, which seems to correlate with the fact that I've gained exactly 50!

PickAChew · 24/06/2017 18:28

We definitely got more coins than we've ever had in a day, but that's more than balanced by us not being able to get anything on the majority of days when we have no gym access.

We've done a fair few drive by additions or treats, on our bus travels, today, mind.

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 24/06/2017 18:25

There was some whingeing on the local page that they were getting less coins per day. It was 100 per day max wasn't it?

PickAChew · 24/06/2017 18:24

Not that rare. I've caught a few cp170 or more flappers with good stats. even when they hatched from eggs, battle with the best of them ones were rare and often lacking in other ways.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 24/06/2017 18:09

I know some very dominant players feel like their opportunities have reduced, but it feels fairer for a larger pool of players now.

Actually, as a dominant player, I feel it is even easier for me to get in and hold gyms. I'm in 9 now and haven't had any returned to me yet.

I love the new system Grin

RueDeWakening · 24/06/2017 18:08

Marking place, I'm now half way through level 31, annoyingly I need about 30 more candy to fully evolve my Cyndaquil - excellent event for me though as we hardly get any Fire Pokemon usually.

I've got a Hwaii (?) And it's a good value phone. Still performs well 18m into a cheap contract.

I took down an Electabuzz on my own. Its now a CP1200 Wonder.

I've begun coding my better pokemon with W, CA, AA, A and NMH from the appraisal screen.

I'm enjoying the update. It's easier to get in to gyms (and back in after being knocked out) and to get something for them even if you don't last long. I rarely got more than 20 coins per day, and often had long phases where I couldn't get in at all. I know some very dominant players feel like their opportunities have reduced, but it feels fairer for a larger pool of players now.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion How do you know it wasn't Level 20?

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 24/06/2017 17:56

I mean, it was a not-very-good one. Not a not level 20 one.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 24/06/2017 17:53

It was not level 20. Raids do not necessarily yield perfect Pokémon, or even the same IV's as other players.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 24/06/2017 17:46

PsammeadPaintedTheLion Ooh you binned the magikarp you got from a raid? If it was a low CP, I get that, but it will have been Level 20 and they're so rare!

RaspberryBeretHoopla We both got an iPhone 6 and it plays the game perfectly Smile

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 24/06/2017 17:29

I binned it already, I think it was 108 and it was a 'caught my attention' rather than a 'wonder'.

Igneococcus · 24/06/2017 17:18

psammead ds would like to know what CP that magikarp was?

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 24/06/2017 17:12

Yes, that was my experience too. I wonder if they changed it for good, or if the 'coming home during a raid' thing has been suspended for the time being, due to the number of raids today? I am guessing normally they they will be less frequent.

Dillite2 · 24/06/2017 17:08

No, pokemom do not return after a raid. All the ones that were in the gyms where we were were still there after the raids.

HandbagKrabby · 24/06/2017 16:56

I did a raid this morning, took down a quilava on my own but couldn't catch it afterwards. I'd say over half the gyms we went past had raids on or about to start - it's really exciting! I've also made more coins since the gyms changed than I did the whole time before - it's so much more fun now

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 24/06/2017 16:44

We completed the raid (it really was a Magikarp! Stunning Grin) and took two gyms down for good measure.

I guess the rules that Pokémon get returned to their owners when the raid begins is not true.

Anyway, it was fun. Dd1 loved it, Magikarp are always good for feeding to our two beautiful Gyarados, and we got a couple of new badges.

I like the update so far!!

RaspberryBeretHoopla · 24/06/2017 16:30

Thank you, very much, PickAChew
