Despite only really playing at the weekend due to working I'm now 180k through Level 31. Today I cheated somewhat. The M25 was stationary, so I opened the app and left it on. I had 8 eggs cooking and between junctions 18 and 22 managed to hatch 7 of them. Mantine, 2x Exegcute, Krabby, Eevee, Togepi and Magby.

Congrats Abbey on reaching Level 30, and commiserations Spammy on not being able to log in.

I hatched a 10k egg. It was a motherfucking shiteating mantine. I catch those arseholes all the time ffs!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 03/07/2017 15:15

I went over to one this morning with the DCs napping in the buggy and there was a teenager there. I felt a bit ridiculous in mum mode and shuffled off...

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 03/07/2017 15:03

It's easy! You can really easily solo a one-star raid - my four year old took down a Magikarp! It doesn't take long, either.

Once you've done one, you'll be away. Do it! Do it! Do it! Grin

Soubriquet · 03/07/2017 15:00

No. I haven't either. Haven't plucked up the courage

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 03/07/2017 14:32

Am I the only one that hasn't done a raid yet?

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 03/07/2017 14:12

Yeah, you can be a casual player and not put too much stock in it, but then you can't complain when other players have played the game with intent and have much better Pokemon!

PsammeadPaintedTheLion IV stands for individual values; it's basically their attack, defence and HP stats with other stuff mixed in.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 03/07/2017 14:12

Possum, that's so cool that you got Corsolas! We might have to go somewhere warm next year Grin

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 03/07/2017 11:06

I think it's as complicated as you want it to be, really. I spent a happy 3/4 of a year just pootling about catching and evolving and very occasionally putting something into a gym. Since about Easter I have been doing more reading about everything so I am evolving with a bit more intent now, doing lucky egg sessions, and am just being a bit more organized. I think I am at my limit now though. I've no interest in third party IV calculators or anything like that, I am not even sure what IV means.

I like that about the game though! You can easily be quite a casual player and still have fun.

His gaming Holiness, RNG-sus has smiled upon me today and has provided me with the last Machop needed for my Machamp. A Bulbasaur too. I am hoping He will continue to bless me with a Chansey from my 10km egg later. Praise be!

tumpymummy · 03/07/2017 09:08

I agree doctor this game is getting a wee bit too complicated for me, struggling to keep up with all these raids and movesets. To be honest I'm a bit embarrassed (as are my kids) that I play Pokemon so the last thing I want to do is loiter around a gym with a load of other players jabbing at my phone. I have often done my gymming on a Sunday evening in the car when no one else is around. Still I do like the fact that there are more opportunities now to walk past a gym and add your Pokemon.

as taking down a red Gary is seen as a badge of honour.

Is it? They're no stronger than a regular Gyarados; they're just a different colour.

DoctorTwo · 03/07/2017 06:23

Just managed to log on and, as predicted, Gary is back! He brought 36 coins with him, so not all bad.

I managed to put 'Mon into 2 gyms yesterday lunchtime. Both were only defended by 1 critter, Arcanine and Jolteon, so I added my red Gary and Rhydon respectively. I hope somebody feeds them as I can't get there to do so until this evening. :o I suspect Gary is either back now (can't check, no signal indoors), or will be soon, as taking down a red Gary is seen as a badge of honour.

TrashPanda I'm Level 28. What about you?

Do your fire and bug Pokemon have fire and bug moves? If they don't, their type is irrelevant.

I have a double dark Arcanine. He's a fire Pokemon, but with double dark moves I wouldn't use him against grass Pokemon as his moves wouldn't be super effective.

Electrabuzz is harder as it's only weak to ground, so you want Pokemon with ground moves (check any Rhydons, Golems or Donphans).

TrashPanda · 02/07/2017 23:22

Nope, couldn't do Electabuzz on my own either. I was using bug and fire.vWhat level are you?

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 02/07/2017 22:51

Exeggutor this morning on my own and couldn't get it down

Really? I find it really easy to take down Exeggutor. Two or three good fire Pokemon, done. Sorted. Caught!

I got a Tm for fast move today after besting a Muk, not too sure what to use it on. My houndoom is not double dark but it's only 1700cp so not sure whether it's worth using it on it.

What is its appraisal? And what moves does it currently have?

TrashPanda · 02/07/2017 22:31

Attempted 3 raids today. Exeggutor this morning on my own and couldn't get it down. I've tried a 2 header on my own before and couldn't do that either, so will need help for those.

Then did a Charizard with 5 other people. Got 6 golden razzberries and a fast TM and then caught him. Then did Croconaw on my own and got 1 rare candy and some revives, caught him too.

PossumInAPearTree · 02/07/2017 22:24

I'm currently in tenerife and have got two corsolas.

HandbagKrabby · 02/07/2017 22:20

I've been using my rare candies on larvitar as my larvitar is better than my dratini. Still need to walk to the moon and back to evolve it though :)

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 02/07/2017 21:02

Yes that's all very true and it's leading me towards getting my Dragonite! Grin

I do definitely want to finish Gen 1 and I am around 14 or 15 Pokemon away (mainly grass evolutions), so it would be an excellent choice Grin

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 02/07/2017 21:00

Err, random 'for' there.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 02/07/2017 20:59

That's a good choice

Dragonite is in the top three best Pokémon in the game for attack and defense
Dratini candy is 5km so it's efficient use
It's also gen 1, if you care about completing gen 1 first
Dratini don't nest and only come from 10km eggs
We had that water event which, for included Dratinis, so unless they have a dragon event which is seriously unlikely you're not going to get a sudden Dratini boon

It's all positives!

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 02/07/2017 20:53

I've done a mixture of all the raids levels, though mostly lower. My best was a Level 4 Lapras though.

With the rare candy I've been really unlucky and only have three, so I'm wanting to make sure I get it right! I really want a Dragonite and have 87 candy so might use it on Dratini...

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 02/07/2017 20:50

It's a bit of a quandry, knowing what to use the candy for, isn't it? I was saving it, but I was getting more every day so saving it seemed odd.

It took me ages to decide but I finally decided to use some on Mareep as that's my furthest-away-from-evolution 5km non-nesting Pokémon Grin I figure even if there is an electric event, which there very likely will be soon, almost 100 candy would be hard to get.

I'm keeping a couple in reserve though.

PickAChew · 02/07/2017 20:50

So gave

Stupid phone.

PickAChew · 02/07/2017 20:49

I experimented with spinning and found it much harder to get a great or excellent shot, do have it up as a bad job. Even less likely to bother now we have the first throw bonus.
