It looked like a new thread was needed, so here it is, all shiny and pristine.

Close to level 34 and my nearest pokestop is a mile away at the other end of the village! I might occasionally go way out of my way to visit it after dropping ds2 at school, but it adds an extra 20 minute walk and the whole mile home is uphill so don't bother if the weather is in any way unpleasant or hot!

We do have a gym equidistant, but that's in another village and getting there involves crossing a dangerous nsl road - it's hard enough to turn right onto it out of the village, so there is no way I would ever attempt it as a pedestrian.

ProseccoandPizza · 16/06/2017 10:10

I'm at level 27 almost 28 and only one local gym that changes team most days. Two poke stops in a one mile radius, that we got multiple times on the school run. Any more pokestops or gyms are a car/bus journey away, but we're just plodding on. Our highest level Pokémon are 2550ish.

spiderlight · 16/06/2017 09:32

Nooooo, Penguin? I would have been so gutted!! :(

jennielou75 · 16/06/2017 07:37

I am level 35 and have walked miles to get there! I have a gyrados at 3200 and a couple of ryhorn at 3000 but all the rest are lower. I hadn't realised how few defensive ones I had so I am building them up but have to walk to get the candies. I just can't bring myself to cheat!

HandbagKrabby · 16/06/2017 06:57

The best Pokemon I've evolved has a cp of just over 2000 and I'm level 26. I don't know how you get a 3200cp Blissey or Dragonite without huge amounts of effort. I'm hoping the gym rework means Pokemon that aren't the usual suspects powered up to the 3000s can hold a gym or two too or at least have tiers so it's possible to participate. We'll see!

DameDeDoubtance · 16/06/2017 06:39

I didn't know that about the catch rate, learn something new every day!

Loving the event, just need a couple more Cydaquils and Hounders to evolve them, Charmander candy is helping to power up my bad boys too.

I need more start dust though, we need a stardust event next!

PenguinOfDoom · 15/06/2017 20:01

I am so fucking annoyed.

Because MN isn't working on my phone, I cleared my cache which logged me out of the wifi on the underground. Got to the tube platform and there was a lapras. The first one I've ever seen in the wild. Except I couldn't catch the fucker because I had no wifi.

So it's Mumsnet's fault I missed out on a lapras.

Gutted.

LBOCS2 No, it's not just chance. Each and every Pokemon has its own unique catch and flee rate.

You can see them all here: www.heavy.com/games/2017/03/pokemon-go-what-is-the-capture-flee-rate-catch-percentage-first-second-generation-list-chart/amp/

LBOCS2 · 15/06/2017 16:08

Is that so, @WhatToDoAboutThis2017? I hadn't realised that different Pokemon had different rates, I assumed it was just chance.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 15/06/2017 15:26

Soubriquet Yes, it's because Cyndaquills only have a catch rate of 20% (and a flee rate of 10%), while Houndour has a catch rate of 40% with the same flee rate.

Soubriquet · 15/06/2017 15:14

Anyone else finding cyndaquil and houndour are a pain in the ass to catch.

Take loads of berries and pokeballs before they finally give in. I've had a few escape too

spiderlight · 15/06/2017 14:55

I know! I lurve him. I am soooo chuffed! Grin

cottonwool125 · 15/06/2017 11:49

Spiderlight yay well done! Lovely CP too Grin

spiderlight · 15/06/2017 09:35

So I'm just arriving home from the school run, in the process of juggling keys, trying to switch off my ipod, logging off Pokemon, and my usual cluster spawn that we always get as we arrive at the house pops up - Swinub, Swinub, Murcrow, Vulpix, Lapras, Pidgey....good job I actually looked properly before I switched it off! I'm going to be in deep trouble later though because it didn't spawn on DS's phone despite me walking up and down the street four times like a wally waving the phone around and muttering. He has one that he hatched though so it won't be the end of the world.

Loving this event. Got enough Charmander candy now but sitting on my hands in case I get a better one
Getting a few Houndour and Cynquadil so hoping I'll have enough candy by the end of the event for the evolutions

MooseyMoo · 15/06/2017 07:36

I hadn't appreciated that egg hatches get 5x xp bonus. So you could buy lots of egg incubators, set them off with the same egg distance then set a lucky egg before you reach the distance.

Bimblesalong · 15/06/2017 00:07

Thanks, re the lapras info, cotton. Going hunting Saturday, into the city, with the incense on and eyes peeled!

FreeNiki · 14/06/2017 23:41

I hatched 2 of the Lapras I think and caught the rest.

I havent seen any since the event started.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 14/06/2017 22:25

cottonwool125 Yeah, I get that, but it does mean you might not have enough candies to power up these Pokemon.

It doesn't matter if you aren't going to gym with them, but I'd you are, it's very important to have as many candies as possible (hence my only evolving one at the end and using all the other candies to power up).

Obviously I only power up powerful gymming Pokemon (Vaporeons, Jolteons, Machamp, Gyarados, Rhydon etc) as stardust is so rare.

cottonwool125 · 14/06/2017 22:23

I've evolved what I can today, but kept about three of each Pokemon behind. I'll keep gaining candies through the week, then when the event finishes, I'll see if I have another that I can evolve Smile

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 14/06/2017 22:22

I've only ever seen (and managed to catch) one Lapras a few weeks ago. It just appeared in the middle of the street for me.

LBOCS2 · 14/06/2017 22:10

Well it's obvious that you've stolen my Lapras Niki!

It's ok. I've got a few Snorlax and Tangela to make up for it.

FreeNiki · 14/06/2017 21:53

I only had one houndour and one Cyndaquil. Now i have enough candy to evolve Houndoom and have 87 Cyndaquil candy.

Here is my army of Lapras'

Runs away!

LBOCS2 · 14/06/2017 21:46

I would move mountains to get a lapras. I still don't have one :(

Igneococcus · 14/06/2017 21:43

I have seen my first ever Lapras in the wild today, couldn't get to it but it was the first time I have seen it other than coming out of an egg.
Couldn't move for Cyndaquils today at work, and houndours.
