Off out in a bit to hand in my timesheet, hope I get another Aerodactyl!

I actually got a party hat pika today! I caught a Ms mime yesterday Grin I wonder if they'll introduce breeding for Easter.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 03/03/2017 13:02

Walked 10 km today. One new Pokémon - Octillery. Apart from that, just got achey feet.

My pokemongo plus thing has arrived. do i need the app open? can it be open in the background while I'm on mums net?!

I like to get into the local gyms to collect some coins for incubators. I don't tend to bother further afield.

It was November when the rules changed to allow training with 6 pokemon before I could get into them. I was around level 20 ish around then. I've played since July, but with young children, struggled to really get going until September, and at that point the gyms were maxed out with CP3000 pokemon and stayed static for months. I can click on the gyms from home, so it's easy to follow what's happening (or not!) I think most of those players are holiday/ weekenders, and they only seem to pop up during events now. They seem to be bored of regular play.

I'd like it if there was a cap on how long you can keep a pokemon in a gym. It would reduce level 10 stagnation and open it up more. TBH, as a solo player, I find training in a gym too much bother after level 8. I can't justify over half an hour standing around in the woods going nowhere!

PokemonGo · 03/03/2017 09:08

I've a few around 1000Cp that have been alright, useful when you need something half the value for max do.

I've given up trying the half HP statergy when powering up. It was too conplicated and took me too long to work out what was going to work. Now I just fight with some of my more powerful 'Mon and power through. I try to keep the max CP of my biggest attacker below the max CP of the biggest defender but I don't even always do that. I power up a lot of gyms.

Maybe I should revisit the half CP power up thing though because it's great when it works.

At the moment I'm holding 7 gyms and around five are fairly safe. Two I've been in for months....gym stagnation at its worst/finest

FreeNiki · 03/03/2017 09:00

I never said i wanted to dominate gyms. Its hard to find one now. Down the road has 3 blisseys. Ones in town are level 10s. I cant often get in one at all.

TinfoilHattie · 03/03/2017 08:06

Spoofing is mad - but I suppose it's about what you want from the game. I'm not interested in dominating the gyms. If I can pop a pokemon in a gym where it stays for 2 minutes as long as I can get the 10 coins that's fine with me. I'm more interested in collecting all the Pokemon.

tumpymummy · 03/03/2017 00:23

I'd agree that Murkcrow are the Gen 2 Mr Mime. I've used them when battling a friendly gym. I've a few around 1000Cp that have been alright, useful when you need something half the value for max XP.

As much as I would love another Snorlax, I don't think that I can justify a trip to Japan to get it.

PickAChew · 02/03/2017 23:09

Also, from various hints (there's a game maker's conference on - DICE awards) trading is going to involve physically being with someone rather than swapping a tauros with a Mr Mime across the Atlantic. There's hints from the conference that Niantic want to trigger some big meets of players, so I'm wondering if that's how trading will happen. Or maybe those meets will be to catch localised very rare pokemon?

If you're short of Snorlax, you might want to get to the Kumamoto region of Japan, next week, as they'll be spawning pretty freely there, in an attempt to increase tourism there, after recent earthquakes.

PickAChew · 02/03/2017 22:49

DS1 reckons they're the new Mr Mime. Only they're less scary and have cool hats.

Only saw our first partychu, this afternoon, at the pokestop only across a couple of fields from DS2's school, but a mile walk each way! Stuck with getting a screen shot for DS1. I'm guessing they haven't upped the spawn frequency like they did with santachu.

I was reading a news article, earlier, suggesting that Ingress portal recommendations were going to be relaunched, which would mean new pokestops. With 3 churches, a memorial, a post office, library and village centre, plus 3 stone carvings, one of which is a pokestop but at the other end of the village, a mile away, I'm sure I could suggest a few!

BumWad · 02/03/2017 22:41

What's the crack with Murkows? Are they the new Scyther? They are everywhere but they don't evolve into anything Confused

DameDeDoubtance · 02/03/2017 20:42

I've not even seen a sniff of a party hat pikachu, totally different to the Christmas event.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 02/03/2017 20:32

I do leave my phone on so my character can have a wander too around my house. I'm assuming thats ok Grin

Natsku · 02/03/2017 19:59

Still haven't got any special items, not even on the 7 day streak drop Angry

PickAChew · 02/03/2017 19:45

Ds1's phone has done that unintentionally when its GPS has gone walkabout, Abbey. His trainer zoomed to another village 3 miles away, once and he did spin the pokestop there! More commonly, he wanders around the neighbourhood. Caught a phanpy that was lurking in the field behind our house, this morning.

ZombieApocalips · 02/03/2017 18:25

Spoofing is done on a laptop or phone. I was looking for Pokémon apps and the search was showing apps for faking your gps co-ordinates.

Some people on my FB go Pokémon hunting by car in a group. One person scans/watches the tracker while another drives.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 02/03/2017 18:19

I'm not sure exactly Niki but it's really annoying. They are definitely doing it remotely as there's no one in sight.
I've heard of people visiting pokestops and walking eggs without leaving the house too. Defeats the point of the game rather!

PickAChew · 02/03/2017 18:09

Chinchou can be found hanging out with psyducks, staryu, poliwag, magikarp and the occasional dratini at watery places.

FreeNiki · 02/03/2017 17:59

How does gym spoofing work. I took out a gym and within seconds i was kicked back out and 3 high level pokemon were back in. The same ones I just kicked out.......

The gym was in the middle of nowhere. Just one car with its lights on nearby.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 02/03/2017 17:42

First Raichu!

GalenJustGalen · 02/03/2017 17:41

Apparently it is a "critical catch," totally random. All righty then.

PossumInAPearTree · 02/03/2017 17:08

I've had that weird swirly thing as well....just on something normal like a pidgey. Never checked to see if it went into my caught stuff.

GalenJustGalen · 02/03/2017 16:36

I've seen that weird swirly yellow thing when it says "gotcha!," too, Igneococcus. No three-wobble thing. No idea what it means.

Here's my gen2 pokedex:
