Sims 4 - Chat thread

Hey all, I know we have a sims three thread but seeing as some of us have made the jump to sims 4 and either loving or hating it, thought we could have a new thread? Hope that's okay!

I still haven't had a proper chance to play but planning on giving it a good few hours tomorrow when the kids are at school.

I have to say, I'm a little in love with frogs and collectibles. My first sim is a collector, can't wait to get her started. Loving how the sims are prettier looking, haven't felt the urge to put cc in the game at all!

Just marking place as am still undecided about sims 4 so want to read other peoples experiences

ignominious · 06/11/2014 17:51

Oh dear I've bought it too now. Reported the thread to hq as a bad influence.

Celestria · 06/11/2014 16:50

Yes will be a little longer for the update to be done as it adds pools Smile

I am lucky I have fibre so it downloaded super fast for me. Also why I live off beans and my clothes have holes in them Grin

I get kicked off when my dd gets in from school. Hmm

I'm still downloading it... got the normal version because I ended up having to buy through Amazon, but then Origin started working again, so I bought the add-on (£14.99) to upgrade it to the posh version. It should all have arrived in about 4 hours time (sigh). From what was written above, I gather I may then have a wait for an update to download? I'll try not to get too excited when this first download is complete, then!

Celestria · 06/11/2014 14:26

I've just got the normal version. Think you get extra stuff in the limited but I'm not fussed about that.

The game just runs like a dream. I don't even mind the loading screens, they are quick :)

What version of sims have people got, there seems to be normal and limited edition, is just normal ok?

Mortimer goth seems to be doing Movember.

FurryDogMother · 06/11/2014 12:32

OK, on the strength of this thread, I have bought and am downloading The Sims 4 - I'd heard it wasn't great, but now I want to join in! I had to rebuild my PC this week, so lost all my Sims 3 stuff (which was running like treacle, anyway) so it seemed like the perfect time to give 4 a go. I'll be back when I've played it a bit :)

Celestria · 06/11/2014 10:26

Well I learned a hard lesson last night! Dont let your dd on your game! She deleted the household I was playing, so I had to start afresh.

Kind of glad she did now as my new sim is loads of fun! She is a total comedian and always doing really daft things. She also beat up Mortimer Goth after he yelled at her!

Screenshots are Fennel (my sim), her telling Mortimer to talk to the hand after she won their fight and the house she is living in. :)

Well I wasted a good part of my morning creating a starter house for my new sim, idea was as small and affordable as possible. Was enjoying the collecting so made that her aspiration....and she has wasted most of her young adult hood stuck on the second part of her aspiration goal because crystals seem thin on the ground! Luckily I have enough reward points to put her back to young adult.

She has acquired two stalkers, Gonzales, he has the dislikes children, lazy and perfectionist traits. Wonderful! And is always angry or sad. He appears to come to the house about three times a day but Lyric ignores him. She did however bind him to the voodoo doll she dug up and enjoys poking him when I am not controlling her!

The other one is Alexander goth. Not only is he ugly but he is a slob too. My sim is incapable of attracting a half decent sim, which is fine by her because she isn't interested in romance in the slightest.

She's reached level two of gourmet cooking, has around twenty my sims trophys, ten or so postcards, eleven fossils and only needs one more frog.

Once she is done the collecting aspiration I will probably choose the master chef one, seeing as she is half way there.

Will post some screenshots when I get in, on my phone at the mo. My origin id is ramblinghaggis if anyone has the game and wants to see or use the starter house I made Smile

I think it was ts3legacies.livejournal.com, I'm on phone with low battery and no 3G. In my defence I used to read it at work so I was being paid for it..

ignominious · 05/11/2014 14:11

Yes please! With sims 3 people used to post their whole family generations as stories it was so interesting. I think I need to get sims 4, was excited about it but the rubbish reviews and high price put me off. You make it sound good though.

Celestria · 05/11/2014 11:00

Of course :) anyone is welcome! I will take screenshots if you like Smile

Can I join the thread without having sims 4? I just like hearing what sims are up to.

Celestria · 05/11/2014 09:19

Ooh that's why it's taking so long....Pools are being added! Smile

Morning any sims 4 people!

So last night my sim finally completed a collection and her aspiration. I was delighted until I discovered there was a stand to display all her elements...that I had just sold! Hmm

I've decided I am going to start from scratch now I have a better grip on the game. It's updating at the moment which is good as I have noticed a few problems in game such as the old pan stuck to hand bug and conversation window stuck after the person has left. Seems quite a big update. Ho hum :)

I miss the toddlers too Sad that really is the only thing though. I think I was pretty overwhelmed with the sims 3, there was so much to do. I actually like the simplicity of the sims 4 at the moment. My daughter always struggled to play the sims 3 but she adores the sims 4 :)

My sim made a bee line for don lothario, I was away from her searching for collectables for her to dig then the convo box popped up and things got suggestive pretty quick. I don't really want her to marry anyways so he can just be her sim sperm sober haha Smile

I love pregnancy in this game, so much more realistic. You can even have sims take a pregnancy test which I thought was really cool! The rating must have went up for this game because I was very shocked when an option for my teen sim to "mess around" either her boyfriend. I thought it meant kiss or something but no they went to a bed and disappeared under the sheets Shock. So much more realistic.

Ah, don lothario, the original romancer Grin I wanted my sim to get with him because their babies would be beautiful but she didn't seem to like him. I've also noticed how friends/lovers of sims randomly call to the door. I think it's good, don't have to invite them over.

Loading screens, yes much better than the warped version of the sim zooming through the air in a sitting position Grin. One thing I will say I really do not like is having babies age straight into children. I miss the toddlers :(

Celestria · 04/11/2014 08:34

I know I do miss not having a grocery store etc. Haha I used to hate that in the sims 3, finally marrying someone then boom...elder!

My sim has tried for a baby once but wasn't successful so still to experience pregnancy and children in the sims 4. There never seems enough sim hours in the day! Don lothario is constantly coming over of his own accord and my sim is a collector so always out digging and mucking around with frogs!

I have to say, I prefer the loading screens. With the sims 3 anytime my sim got in a taxi, she would just be floating in thin air as the game didn't run fantastic on my pc. I also love the super fast sleeping!

A pink world?! I have hardly even explored the town yet, beyond the park, gym and lounge, but must do soon.

I love the way pregnant sims can still go to work, and in their uniform too. My sim is long done having babies, but when she was pregnant it was so cute watching her to waddle to work in her chef uniform 3 days pregnant Grin

I don't like the way there is no shop to buy books, fruit/veg etc like sims 3 and no cafe. But the park/gym/lounge is always lively and full of other sims which the sims 3 struggled with.

My current sim is nearly an elder. She has reached the top of her cooking career [celebrity chef] and mastered the cooking skill. She has two children. Her ds has just gotten married and moved out and her dd has just aged into an adult. I'm going to get her to marry her high school sweetheart when he ages up and have children of her ownGrin the funny thing is I planned for her ds to have children but as soon as he got married his wife turned into an elder ConfusedHmmGrin

Celestria · 04/11/2014 01:46

Played it for a couple of hours tonight and loving all the surprises, ended up in a pink world after exploring a tree! My sim is a collector and I've noticed things always spawn in the same places each day. She also decided to flirt with don lothario, Mr noncommittal himself. Love the pregnancy testing, very cute.

I love it :) so much better than sims 3 imo. Better body sliders, better graphics. Plus I love how sims can multitask. Though I have to say when my sims are eating and chatting it takes aggggges to finish their meals and they are always late for school/work.
