Suddenly look terrible

Have other women experienced suddenly looking terrible after being good looking?

What did you do about it? Never thought I was vain but I just feel honestly so terrible looking at how haggard I look now…and sad 😔 surgery and various injections etc seems even more tragic?

Is it possible you look better than you think you do or is it really possible you just suddenly turn into an unattractive looking human over a couple of years in mid forties and kill off therefore your sex life and self worth etc ?

help!

I’ve never know this to happen to the hundreds or thousands of people I’ve known. People look the same and then gradually look a bit older. My mid 40’s beautiful cousin says this all the time and randomly points to bit of her face that she says look terrible.

I've had a boob job, Botox, and fillers at 40.... I can assure you I'm absolutely not tragic in any way thanks!

Ageing happens in stages so it is a shock to see yourself suddenly different. But you don't look awful at all, you just look older. And your state of mind makes a huge difference to your looks at any age,

It wasn’t 40s for me but this year at 53. I remember the year I was 50 someone at work in a different department saying she thought it was my 40th birthday and not 50 but in the last few months I feel I’ve really aged. I really do look my age now.

I have had a really stressful year so it might be that. I don’t do injectables or anything like that, never even had a facial and I’ve started thinking about maybe researching them - facials - but quite frankly, that ain’t gonna do much 😁

I feel your pain OP. I turn 46 this year and look so tired and old. I had to do a video for work and was shocked how awful I looked. I always looked younger than my age til about Covid. It's more than caught up with me now! But like PP said, it's a privilege to get old. Trying to do a bit more self care now. Baths, meditation, not caring what people think, etc.

The issue is you say the natural ageing process has killed off your self-worth - self-worth built on looks is always at risk.
Can you afford some therapy around how you feel about yourself?

I had that moment seeing my reflection in a shop window.
I knew Covid, perimenopause and hitting 50 had taken it out of me, but….
I went on the jab, lost 20kg, it’s very much a case of face or arse, so I literally spent a little fortune on Charlotte Tilbury that gave me that healthy glow. Redid my entire wardrobe, Instagrammed myself to death, I actually researched trends (which is/was SO not me).
I upped my gym going as well, so I don’t lose too much muscle.
But most importantly, I think, I had a mind reset. Because I am grateful for getting old, that’s not it, the problem was I stopped caring, paying attention to myself. So I remembered myself and did something about it.

Mid forties is too young. Mid 60s not good.

Having a face lift seems a bit of a full on move. Risky and expensive but I understand now as feel so bad about it

It happened to me, very suddenly although I wouldn't have said I used to be good looking. You just kind of get used to it.

Dyeing my hair hasn't helped, wearing heavy coverage foundation doesn't help, I tend to avoid looking in the mirror.

Its crept up on me gradually so Im not really bothered but Im having a facelift in Lithuania at the end of the year. I havent given up yet even at 64 😂ive been watching 80s bands then and now and its quite sobering especially as Im older than a lot of them now.
