Honestly what would you think of sisters both with gem stone names?

Honest opinions guys what would you think of sisters with gem names along the lines of pearl and jade or Ruby and Amber?

Not Amethyst and Sapphire.

Sorry for posting in 30 days it’s so there’s no digital footprint of anyone saying it’s shit 😂

I think staying with the precious stones theme, if you want less frequently used names, you could consider Anatase and Larimar. They are lovely unusual stones too.

Or you could go a bit more leftfield with Marialite and Diaspore. Probably shouldn’t really have a daughter with ‘spore’ in her name though…

Really can’t tell if you are joking with those suggestions or not…

I think Jade is a tricky one because of its additional usage besides the pretty green stone. But I don’t think many people realise this historic usage.

Thanks I did sort of think the same thing none of the four gem names I like rhyme. So to me sounds less match than poppy and Maisie for example especially considering the average school kid dosent have a great knowledge of precious stones and once they’re adults they will be living separate lives anyway

DP and her sister have two of the names you mention.

While they both like their names (although SIL thinks hers is a bit of a "stripper" name), they both hate the fact that their names have a "theme". It seems to be an issue of their parents not thinking of them as individuals (they used to dress them the same as kids as well, which I think has also fed into this).

They'd both much rather have first names that had absolutely no connection with each other

I thought this as well about not having connected names. I just don't like the idea and would hate it if it was me and a sibling....so ,maybe one gem name and one not? after all you aren't naming a litter or puppies or kittens? PS even worse if its twins

Don't hold your breath. It is a gemstone and people are always searching for something different. I mean, who would honestly have thought (certainly of my generation) that anyone would call their child Agnes or Edith. To me they're right up there with old aunty Gladys or Ethel!

I think Edith is a beautiful name. Edith Swan-neck.
I really think people don't like names because they associate them with an older generation not because of anything intrinsically wrong with the name. On another thread for example Muriel was heavily objected to but it is actually a very pretty name. That's why they were popular names of their age!
Anyway OP two gems or gem related names are fine!

Pearl is a lovely name! Josh Widdecombe’s dd is called Pearl. Don’t know what her last name is, though…

Lots of those names, Jade, Amber, Ruby etc. are also the names of colours, so I would also bear in mind that you might accidentally end up with a colour theme.

I wouldn’t really think anything, except maybe two nice names. Lots of families choose ‘flower/nature’ names for all their children.

I once knew a family whose children were all named after different models of Ford cars and vans. Gemstone names are fine.

Blimey. Who got saddled with Fiesta?! Can’t see anyone being called Focus or Mondeo. How about Cortina?

Pearl isn't awful, it is just vintage, like Ruby used to be. Some names are coming out of retirement big time.

@Gisters I know sisters with gemstone names, fine by me.

Surely Amber and Jet are fossil organics though, so have been turned to stone. Totally agree with you on pearl and coral though, I have a regular argument with a friend who claims her birth stone is pearl.
