Been with my prtner 3 years, few splits due to other things like arguing, controlling behaviour which was somewhat dealt with.

7 weeks ago after being seperated, we got back together for a final shot and I asked if there was anything to tell me and we start fresh on honesty and do things properly.
7 weeks later (3years technically) after knowing somthing was off i finally found out my partner was lying about owning his own house.

I knew his story's didnt add up. Suspicious behaviour and lies to hide it when I asked previously. And went as far as to make a fake scilicitor document when I asked for proof. Every time I asked he turned it into a me issue and lied about jt making me feel like I had trust issues and I was the problem.

I found somthing with was proof and pulling teeth I finally got him to admit it. He admitted he wouldnt have told me otherwise.

Im angry and hurt and felt like trust is completly broke. Im not woth him for money or anything or the sorts,(he doesnt have any) and im also not like that but its the lies and deciet about it all and the points he has went to to hide it is the massive issue.

I went mad and told him it was over as im sick of getting hurt. And trust being broke , and ontoo of pur past with arguments and behaviours this just topped it. He told me he it was my fault he lied, He got mad and upset and thinks its not an ending relationship deal and we coukda worked through it.

For me its just extra stuff to add on to the past stuff.

Not sure I understand it all but the basic problem is he lies to you repeatedly. It’s not a good relationship and you should end things for good

Why would he lie about owning his own house? And for 3 years?
I think you’re both better off apart tbh

justagirlcalledlucy · 19/09/2026 19:38

He said he was embarassed as he didnt own his own home. (I dont even own mine) , he lied about it but also went to the lengths to cover it up making fake scilicitor letter, when I mentioned selling it said he would get council to buy it ( so he didnt have fore sale signs ect) to cover himself on the lie. Hid letters abiut rent which is how I found out. And everytime I mentioned it he made me out to be insecure, silly, cant trudt him. And swore on his kids lifes he owned it.
Thats the bit that hurt me n betrayed me the most. Not the fact he doesnt own it the lengths he went to hide it n admitted he wasnt going to tell me.

He lies and gaslights you. Why bother thinking there is any future n this relationship?

Agatha1989 · 19/09/2026 19:54

So he lied about being a homeowner?

justagirlcalledlucy · 19/09/2026 20:31

Yes he lied about it, gaslit me and went to extreme to hide it for our whole relationship

It isnt the first issue we have had during our relationship, there has been minor lies before about money or silly things, and some controlling issues where seeing friends and family created alot of arguments that lead to a previous split.
I think past stuff with this ontop was too much and has broken my trust in the relationship

Ah now I get it - he lied saying he owned his home when he didn’t - sorry I had it the other way around!
Bit silly of him really - if it had been a few months maybe there would be a way through but for 3 years and to keep turning it back onto you and going so far as a fake solicitors letter - there’s no way back from that imo x sorry @justagirlcalledlucy

I think it was more the lenghts he went to hide it and gaslit me that hurts. Always told me he'd never swear on his kids life's unless it was true, he also preached honesty and how important it was.
Iv been honest with him and sometimes too honest. We previously broke up due to him having issues with me spending time with family/friends and arguing over me not replying quickly enough (10 mons) or if I forgot to tell him simple plans or mention stuff about my day.

my family has said he speaks to me like poop, and i brush it off. We got back together, he made plans for us and blending our families properly knowing he was sat on that lie. The reason he was probibly deseprate to move in but i said to wait a little longer.

He said hes nothing else to hide now.
When we first got together he told me hes good at talking himself out of any situation and good at convincing. and I laughed it off.
He doesnt see it as a major issue or a reason to end it.

"He doesnt see it as a major issue or a reason to end it"

Well I do.

He's a louse, who lies through his teeth, and then twists and manipulates to get out of his lies. He doesn't get to make all the decisions here, and if you want to end it, you can and whenever you like. You don't need a 'reason' to justify your decision. Just dump him, he sounds horrible and absolutely not worth the bother.

I really don’t get why you are still giving him headspace. It is over no matter what he thinks. Sigh with relief at finding out now and move on.
