I’ve nc for this
Mum of two boys. I’m not with their dad. One 19 who has moved out, but still relies for financial support if needed and one 16 who is still at school and lives at home.
The older one told me he’s on the work course this week. He keeps in regular contact with me and his brother and called yesterday just for a chat. I was talking to him about the course etc and something felt a little odd. I couldn’t put my finger on it.
The older one shares his location with his brother. They get on really well and are always in contact. I tried to call my older one this morning and I couldn’t get through. I needed to speak to him about something quite important so after trying several times and leaving messages, I asked my younger one to check his location to check he can see where he was. I don’t ever usually do this. I trust them both and I’ve never felt I need to check locations unless I’m worried for their safety.
my younger one looked a little surprised when looking at his phone and then said he’s at home. I said are you sure, please don’t lie to me as I’m really worried about him. After some time he said he was at the airport! I said he can’t be because he was catching a train this morning and the course is only about an hour from where he lives.
We were only on holiday a few weeks ago and most of his stuff is still here, but I went up to check for his passport and it’s missing. I am upset and confused. I have always encouraged them to be independent, if he had told me he was going away, I would have been happy for him and given him some safety tips and reminded him to look after himself because he’s never travelled abroad without family before. I can’t get my head around why he would lie.
I don’t want to ask him because I don’t want him to fall out with his brother, but I’m also really worried because he’s in a foreign country and I don’t even know if he’s taken out bloody travel insurance. I don’t even know why I’m posting. I usually post to ask for advice. This is completely out of my hands and I can’t do anything about it, apart from pray he returns safely
