I think a lot of the case has been purposely distorted by people who want to see LC go down. There’s a lot of nonsense out there, such as she apparently wrote that she ‘hated’ her 3 year old son Dawson, when all she did was seek advice online about his behaviour (which lots on mothers on Mumsnet do). She prefaced it by saying she loved him but she was struggling with some of his behaviour and wanted advice.

I’ve also seen media posts where people have used AI to put a smirk on LC’s face and also paste in clips of her in the court room over courtroom footage to make her appear nonchalant during sensitive parts of the trial. When in reality they’ve had to pause court numerous times due to her mental state and breaking down.

We’ve also seen a female journalist get publically bollocked and painted as a LC supporter for smiling at the camera prior to the trial (even though she said it was just a nervous reaction to having the camera on her).

The media has hammed up the ‘support’ LC got from medical professionals despite those same medical professionals openly admitting that they failed her.

The media has focused in on her asking if she had an attorney after the fall, and excluded the fact that she asked how her family was. Plus the doctor in attendance said LC was heavily sedated and in pain.

Christ there’s even been stuff online about her baby’s brain coming out of his skull due to the pressure. This is categorically untrue.

People are believing it too because they aren’t watching the trial.

Well, this one you are just plainly misrepresenting. Brittany Romano smiled and winked at the camera. i’m sure she did say it was just a nervous reaction. She would, wouldn’t she. That doesn’t make it true.

They have acknowledged that they let her down. Have you watched the trial? Because you seem to be parroting a lot of stuff that’s been wrote in the media that’s been disproven during the trial.

Can the word parroting take a rest by any chance.

The 11 plus medical health professionals, specialists in postpartum depression, and at least two psychiatrists she saw - one who she saw regularly over a four month period - and the highly reputable McLean Hospital she stayed at, they all "let her down"? She refused to follow treatment, or take prescribed medications, and lied about her state right up until the day before she murdered her three children in a painful, terrifying, and prolonged manner.

They are not very good at treating mentally ill women in the USA. I saw so many women standing in the street having a bad mental health episode in San Francisco. It’s just another version of that to me. They all let her mental health decline and that was the consequence.

Oh, the bit where LC wrote in her diary how much she hated her three-year-old son Dawson doesn't count?

All I remember about the NZ woman's case (she was British and recently immigrated there from memory) is there were no mass protests, no protests, no supporters wearing pink, no crowdfunded millions for anyone related to her (and no conspiracy theories that her husband must really have done it because she is a mummy and mummies are all good). And she was also full of remorse.

She didn’t write in her diary that she hated her son. That’s been disproven multiple times.

I honestly can't fathom the mentality of a person who would declare a mother who strangled her 3 young children to death, in a planned and deliberate action, as a victim of a 'witch hunt' because people believe she should be held responsible and face justice.

No, her children losing their lives in terror and agony at her hands (as some people proclaim losing her children is punishment enough) is not punishment enough because those children were human beings in their own right who had a right to life without the length of it being dictated by their mother.

Being in a wheelchair through her own actions to try to avoid facing justice is not punishment enough. She's already thinking about wheelchair marathons to use it to her advantage.

Just come across this great article about the focus being on 'poor Lindsay' rather than her victims, setting the scene for copycat murders because women will think they can get away with it.

There has already been one reported in Illinois where a mother 'heavily invested' in the Clancy trial hung her 2 year old in her BASEMENT, inflicted non lethal injuries on herself and her defence is 'psychosis'.

Which medications? To my knowledge, she didn't take the medications that can increase the risk of bipolar in one already inclined.

This seems to give good information on what medications she was supposed to be taking and which she actually took.

Wasn't she also speaking to about 10 different doctors - called 'Dr shopping' - wonder if that was to get a diagnosis for something specific?

Looking at this case, there was more evidence to show that she resented her children than in LC’s case. Apparently she wrote that she wished she had done things differently and start over as she believed the children had negatively impacted her relationship with her husband. Interesting that she was put in a mental institution and not prison, that’s where I believe LC should stay.

It actually seems increasingly likely he did it. There was no real investigation. They charged her while still unconscious and told her she'd killed them when she woke up. The reason she admitted it is because there's no way to enter a plea of insanity without acknowledging guilt. Patrick claimed she told him she did it when in fact her throat was crushed and the paramedics testified there was no way she could have spoken when they took her in. Some of the evidence of her apparent internet searches on how to kill herself have been proved to be done on the home computer when she was proven to be at the doctors office with her children. She was a registered nurse - this was not something she would have needed to look up. Honestly, watch some of the reels about this case- it's extremely concerning.

MissMoneyFairy · Yesterday 14:50

I'm no expert but if you're in acute psychosis then isn't that your reality at the time , can you then claim a voice told you to murder your children if you were truly psychotic and deluded? Would you truly and accurately remember a voice or command? Plus she was in a life threatening condition herself, medicated and intubated which must all affect your memory.

This woman, a few years back, in New Zealand murdered her three children while suffering from postpartum depression. She got sentenced to 18 years in a mental health facility nonetheless.

"Lauren Dickason, 41, murdered her two-year-old twin daughters, Maya and Karla, and their six-year-old sister Lianè just weeks after moving to New Zealand from South Africa in 2021 to start a new life with husband Graham.
She was found guilty last August of killing her children by smothering them with pillows at the family’s new home in Timaru, New Zealand in 2021.
After placing them in their beds, Ms Dickason tried to take her own life.
She admitted to killing the girls but pleaded not guilty to murder, citing post-partum depression and mental disturbance as her defence.
However at a five-week trial she was found guilty of murder.
The judge ruled that Ms Dickason will spend 18 years detained in a mental health facility, with no minimum term of imprisonment."

Her clinical history. The contents of her diary. The conversations she had with her family. The witness statements confirming she was deteriorating quickly and begging for help. The evidenced lack of appropriate clinical care.

thats enough for reasonable doubt over whether she could have been having a psychotic episode with auditory hallucinations.

In addition to that,
the fact she was then diagnosed with Bi Polar. Knowing the impact of the medications she was given on someone who is BPD and not treated. And having direct experience of someone living in and out of psychotic episodes.

what evidence would you need to be presented that would ‘affirm’ for you that she was suffering psychosis at the time? What does that evidence look like?

They should still be held accountable for their behaviour though.

Here's some examples of other cases where men claimed they had mental health issues resulting in them killing their kids or families. These popped up on a Facebook post for me but I've checked the source and found newspaper articles for them all.

Benjamin Cole, Oklahoma. He killed his 9-month-old daughter. He had a paranoid-schizophrenic diagnosis and was found to have a growing brain lesion. He was guilty and Oklahoma executed him in October 2022.

Reginald Brooks, Ohio. Days after his wife filed for divorce, he killed his three sons: 17, 15, and 11. He then left town. He had paranoid schizophrenia too. The court that sentenced him even said he was mentally ill before, during, and after the killings. Ohio executed him.

Richard Fairchild, Oklahoma. He killed his 3-year-old son. He had schizophrenia-spectrum, psychosis, delusions, and brain damage. He was executed in November 2022.

André Thomas, Texas. In 2004, in the middle of religious delusions, he killed his wife, their 4-year-old son, and 13-month-old daughter. He said God told him to do it. He has a long schizophrenia history, including hearing voices as a child. A jury heard the insanity defense and rejected it. He was sentenced to death.

Larry Robison, Texas. Diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. He killed five people, including an 11-year-old boy. He ran an insanity defense. Texas executed him.

While I don't agree with the death penalty for anyone, it's a marked difference in how these men were treated for their crimes and the court case fiasco of LC. I would be shocked if there were legions of men out on the street protesting about their incarceration or saying 'same here'. I'm equally shocked that women are doing it.
Whilst I sympathise with anyone suffering PPP ( but I'm not convinced LC had it), it does not excuse her actions. There has already been some copycat crimes in the US with a least one woman I read about killing her son and claiming he was the antichrist.

Well yes, America is a psychopathic country that murders mentally ill people.

Are you arguing you want the same level of inhumanity directed at LC minus the death penalty?

Shouldn’t the argument be that they should all be sent to secure psychiatric hospitals?

The U.K. cases of women killing their kids I mentioned previously were found to have diminished responsibility and sent to secure hospitals, where as I have said, one committed suicide.

Yes. Corie Walsh, who was obsessed with Lyndsay Clancy, hung her two year old son.

She's been charged with first-degree murder, though, apparently.

People can have widely varying degrees of awareness and insight into their condition. And the awareness itself can come and go.

So for example a person could see something they full believe is real at the time, but later realise it may not have been. Or they realise at the time that what they see is not real but still not be able to get rid of the hallucination.

People with OCD and PTSD can experience intrusive thoughts but they can’t either control them or get rid of them. Sometimes compulsive behaviour associated with the thoughts may take over.

They should still be held accountable for their behaviour though.
